I am still unable to post any of my pictures to Blogger right now.

In lieu of pictures I am posting my favorite poem that starts with the letter "M". I hope that you will find as much meaning to this beautiful poem as I do.

MYSELF

I have to live with myself, and so

Rescue Pets........

I'm having trouble with Blogger for the last few days so I'm reposting a few shots from my local shelter. Is anyone else having problems? I can use old pictures but not any new ones.

Right now shelters are overfilled with pets that need homes. If you are considering a pet, please visit your local Humane Society or Animal Shelter. You will never find a better pet and it will thank you and be a loyal pet for it's lifetime. A pet gives you unconditional love at all times.

A Letter To My Animals.........

I have a thing or two to say to a couple of my animals today. As you all know, I love all of our animals but lately a couple have "issues" that I'd like to address. And a BIG thank you to Roxie and Ellie for being good examples lately. I'll address you another day......I'm sure...........

Darling Sophie..........why is wherever I lay clothes to dry your favorite place to sleep? Is it the smell of fresh laundered clothes that you can't resist? I'm going to change detergents AGAIN just to see if I can find one that you don't absolutely adore!! I love you but really.........come on???

Sweet Sadie and Gus you big lug.........must you fight over every apple you find in the yard? You have toys everywhere and you want to play with apples? It's like some kind of keep away game with you two lately. And please Gus, for the love of Pete (whoever Pete is??), would you stop chewing on the deck? What's the deal with that??

And you........Scully!!! Must you start with "Hey.....What You Doin" as soon as the sun cracks in the sky every morning? Whats the deal with that?

As soon as Sophie, Sadie, Gus and Scully read this I just know that things are going to change around here. Right? Right???

Thanks Eve For The Hot Flashes!!

Okay........this is exactly what a hot flash looks like. They have been running through my body JUST LIKE THIS!! I would like to give my very own personal thank you to Eve for this rubbish merely because I'm not entirely sure who else to blame. I would like to know what I've ever done to you? Thanks gal!!

Between hot flashes, I've been working on my gardens and have to show you this Gladiola be-yoot that is blooming in one of my rock gardens...........

A few snapshots from my organic garden. I make my own organic insect repellent to keep those little suckers off my veggies.........

My eight gi-normous blueberry bushes are chock full of blueberries this year.......

My eggplant are full of blooms that will soon produce..........

My yellow Heirloom cherry tomatoes have millions of tomatoes on them (okay........maybe not millions.....but thousands.......)

I have loads of squash already...........

I'm off to weed my garden. Helps the hot flashes you know? I am determined to get the rest of those suckers gone today so that more can take their place. Still, I find gardening very therapeutic and soothing. Doesn't hurt that I sell my veggies either. That's always good incentive, lol.

I Got Nothing...........

I am trying to catch up in my veggie garden after loads of rain so I've got nothing but a picture of the ultimate animal "Kiss This"!! My cat Sophie sits in the window like this to tease my 4 dogs when she is inside and they are outside. It drives my poor pups mad. It seems that she is saying "I'm in and you're not"!! Who says animals don't have a sense of humor??

I just never know what I will need to wear with what on any given day. You have no idea what dilemna this presents at times!! It is far more complicated and important that you can ever imagine. It is a self esteem issue and I know that you wouldn't want my self esteem to suffer. And while we're having this little talk....yes my love, I need the handbag as well............

I live in the friendliest town in the Southern Arc I do believe. I want to share a few things that made me smile this week while I was out and about in my beautiful hometown of Newnan, Georgia..........

One of our many picturesque streets in town, Wesley Street. The movie October Road was filmed here.......

This is Lil Mama and Killer who come to our church every Sunday morning and wait patiently outside to greet everyone. They are our most faithful members..........

Pretty Nina who wandered over to show Prince and I her copy of Amelia Bedelia.......

I love this porch out front at 10 East Washington. Always wonderful food prepared lovingly by Chef George............

A pretty purple shamrock I spied over by Dr. Pat Yancy's office.........

I snapped this bee on a pretty flower in my yard. I'm happy to see the bees around. 1 in every 3 bites of food we eat depend on our bees pollenating..........

My Daddy Was A Soldier.........

This post is in honor of my Dad a Purple Heart Veteran of the Korean War. He died at the age of 45 in 1976 and was buried with full military honors. He taught my brother's and I our love for this country with his unfailing love for America. I still fly Old Glory in the front of my house every day in his honor.......in honor of all servicemen and women from around the world who have given so much for our freedom.

My most prized possession is the American flag that draped his casket. Folded so nice and neatly by his comrades it rests in a beautiful wooden triangle case over my fireplace with his picture.

Thank you Daddy - - - you're my hero!!!

Thank you to every American soldier and their families.

This is one of my favorite picture's in the whole world of my dad on a little R&R with his buddy in Korea. That's my daddy on the left with his beautiful smile..........

You probably don't know his story

Friday Shoot-Out Update - Join Our Gang

Everyone who participated in this week's Friday Shoot-Out did a "bang-up" job!! Gordon's choice of 'Paint the Town Red' made for some very creative shots. Seeing every one's interpretation of subject was amazing and that's what it's all about folks.......interpretation!!

Hensley has chosen 'Water' for next Friday. Great choice Hensley!!!! This is another assignment what will have many interesting takes on the subject. Don't worry if you don't live near the water. Water can be found everywhere and in many, many forms.......birdbaths, swimming pools, rain puddles, rain barrels, sprinklers, the possibilities are endless. You'd be surprised what you can find if you really look at the world around you, open your heart and free your mind.........

Friday Shoot-Out - Paint It Red!!

Gordon over at Friday Shoot-Outs From Florida got to pick this weeks subject and he chose "Paint The Town Red". I had a great time shooting this one and I only "almost" caused about 2 wrecks this week slamming on the breaks for shots. That's a record for me....I usually "almost" cause a few more. For some reason Prince won't ride with me much these days. I don't get it.......

My favorite place to shop in town Arnall's Grocery. I buy all my seeds and garden supplies here. I used to come to this very same store with my grandmother to buy seeds for her garden.............

This is my very favorite. I spotted these young dudes with red shirts on their way to drop a line in the creek as they put it. Mike, Lucas, AJ and Jesse happily posed for a snapshot and told me about their day. What nice young men.........

Thank you so very much for all of your prayer's for my daughter. I can't tell you how priceless it is to have such kind friends who are so supportive. She did lose her baby and is of course inconsolable. I love her so very much......with everything in me and it is tearing me apart to see her like this.

Tuesdays Around My Hometown Newnan, Georgia

My darling Prince had to have a little Carpal Tunnel surgery yesterday so I have to give a shout-out to the fine folks at Georgia Bone and Joint this week. As you all know, I think Newnan is the greatest spot on Earth to live!! Even the doctors and nurses in my town are good ole Southern people who care for you like you are famly and not just another patient. Our friend and doctor, Dr. Jack Powell and his staff are some of the most caring people we know and of course they treated Prince like....well, a Prince.

A few things happening in Newnan of late.........

Ms. Kathy McAlpin of Wesley Woods. She's the organizer extrordinaire who made everything happen and go off without a hitch Saturday at the Wesley Woods Wellness Fair..........

This is Ms. Carol of Juice Plus who made a "smoothie of the hour" in Woody's Bistro where I was set up. She had the freshest fruit and veggies along with her supplements.........

This is one of my favorite pleaces, the gift shop and pharmacy in the Summit Healthplex..........

I posted this one for Chef E because she liked the other etsy tea towel I bought there a couple of weeks back. Boy that Elizabeth is so darned talented that I think there's nothing she can't do.....cook, write poetry, inspiring phtography and stories. Check her out over at Food - Wine - Fun. You sure will be glad you dropped by to see her. (I love this shop because they have the most unique gifts. I can never resist buying something every time I go in)...............

Our wonderful One Roof Outreach in Newnan. This is a place where blessings happen daily................

My gal Allison Wallace who runs one roof and a couple of her volunteers in the food pantry. Allison goes the extra mile to make sure that the needs of people in our community are met. She and her husband Kevin also have a music ministry and she has the voice of an angel..........

This is my darlin Prince before his "happy" shot. Actually, my hunnyman is always happy and smiling. He was singing for the nurses in the hall on the way down to surgery. He was singing some country song in his very British accent which of course cracked the nurses up........

I met this super nice lady Darcy out in the waiting room as she was knitting. We struck up a conversation and she told me about her lovely grandchildren. What a joy she was to meet..........

I ran into Mr. Austin and his 71 Checy project car this week. He was on his way to take her to have her painted dark green with a white racing stripe. Now that's gonna look sweet.........

Along my way home, I kept passing this lil guy out in the pasture at the Double H Ranch and finally stopped for a shot...........

The owner came over and told me that he's a miniature horse named Shadow. He told me to call him over to the fence, so of course I couldn't resist. Shadow came running over for a little petting and an apple. What a sweet boy he was. Now I stop by all of the time and call him to the fence for a little treat. How cute is this guy??? Oh my, I just love him...........

Come one down to Newnan for a little visit. I'll take you over to One Roof and we'll bag a few groceries and clothes together while Allison entertains us with a song and her hilarious British humor. Or maybe we'll find Ms. Darcy or Austin and his project car. One thing for sure......you'll meet some of the nicest home folks in the world and they'll great you with a big smile and a hug.

Things That Made Me Smile Last Week

A few things that made me smile this week...........

Our new friend Christian applauding himself after blowing out the candles on his birthday cheesecake. Christian was a tugboat captain and played a big part in the building of The Panama Canal. What an interesting man he is, and that's his beautiful wife Michelle there with him. She hand makes stunning jewelry out of semiprecious stones and rocks.

In the forefront here, is another new friend Andreas and his pup Buddy. Andreas is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Auburn. He cooked a wonderful meal of smoked chicken, beef and pork short ribs, grilled fresh veggies and a smoked cabbage fresh from his garden that was out of this world. Another very interesting new friend who I can't wait to get to know better. That's our great friends the Foster Failures and Prince and I at the back of the table..........

My Border Collie Miss Roxie always makes me smile. I showed pictures of the day I picked up Roxie a few months ago when she was abused and skin and bones. Now she is so beautiful with her shiny healthy coat and she's such a sweet darling girl............

My handsome boy Gus. Gus had the ole "fix" this week, poor guy. I hope he doesn't mind me putting his business out here like this. He is the most lovable oaf and I adore him..........

My beautiful girl Sophie our Rag doll cat. She too is a rescue who was about to be put down if someone didn't take her. She is such a loving girl...........

The next two shots are artwork I received from my gal, beautiful soulbrush, in London. I inquired about her beautiful art and she sent me these pictures from across the pond. I LOVE them and will show them again when I have them framed. Thanks again soulbrush. You're awesome........

I had my hands treated with warm paraffin at the Wellness Fair I participated in Saturday. After coating my hands with warm wax they were wrapped in bags to dry. It felt so warm and wonderful...............

Wow, I really had computer issues all day yesterday and then I needed to run see my daughter Miss Nan. If I didn't make it to your Friday Shoot-Out yesterday I apologize and will get there as soon as I can.

A little update for next week..............

My Ragdoll cat Sophie drew a name outta the Harley Davidson helmet...........

And came up with Cool Daddy-O Gordon who is sure to pick something exciting and fun for us to all shoot around. He's also a gem of a guy who will post the subject over at his place "Friday Shoot-Outs From Florida". Gordon also keeps an updated running list of participant's.

I'm stoked by the fact that Patty and I started with just ourselves some months back and this list has grown so much. There are also quite a few other's who have expressed interest in participating. I shamelessly beg you to jump right in and come out shootin!!. Hit any of us with a comment just so we know to add you to the list so that other members can see your shots. Then simply post "Friday Shoot-Out" in your title post so that we can see it on our blog roll and dashboards. I've met some amazing people doing this project and am sure to meet more great people. And as if that's not enough, we all have a great time every week shootin and postin.......

I would like to ask all my "Prayer Warrior" friends to keep by darling baby girl in your prayer's right now. Please lift her name up if you don't mind :) I will post more about that later................

I'm off to do a Wellness Fair at Wesley Woods Retirement Community in Newnan today. I'm doing my best to promote healthy eating habit and the virtues of organic foods. I'm also doing a demonstration on planting an organic patio tomato that the resident's can nurture and grow to fresh tomatoes at their back door. I'll be giving the tomato plants away as I pot them. I already know that I will have a wonderful time.

Tuesdays In Newnan - City Of Homes

I love to spotlight my beautiful hometown of Newnan, Georgia on Tuesdays. Newnan is such a friendly place bursting with energy and happy people. We are not a big town, but are growing every year by leaps and bounds and yet we maintain that small town charm and appeal.

We have Market Days on our Court Square the first Saturday of each month where local artists and vendor's place their goods out. Prince and I love to take a little stroll around town on those days, take our time and enjoy the good life. Main Street Newnan's own Linda Kee-Bridges has so graciously given The Newnan-Coweta Humane Society a free space for next month and I can't wait to take pictures and blog about that. We hope that we can adopt out many pets that weekend to good and loving homes.

A few highlights of my special Southern town Newnan, Georgia.........

This is Sargent Baptist Church where Prince and I worship and serve. We love our church and the people in our church have amazing hearts........

Sunday on Mother's Day we had a Baby Dedication and this is our Pastor, Stacy Stafford, blessing these sweet young ones. They are our future and our church loves and nutures them ..........

These darling young girls were playing at the Recreation Center here in Newnan last night........

I would like to bring Wesley Woods to the forefront today. Wesley Woods is Coweta County's only Continuing Care Retirement Community. It is gracious Retirement Living at it's finest.

As I went in for a meeting with a friend, this beautiful gazebo greeted me. I can just see ladies sitting out here in the evenings sharing memorie's of life, love and family........

I love this covered arbor surrounded by flowers and this is a place that I would love to sit and talk with friends while watching a beautiful Georgia sunset........

Wesley Woods has an amazing gift shop and I ran into these young ladies who are so sweet and gracious. Please meet Ms. Margaret Jones, Ms. Margaret Cox and Ms. Patisue Jackson. Everytime I see them they always have those glowing smiles on their faces.............

These ladies are fabulous. This is Adrienne Lameray and Kathy McAlpin. Kathy is a super nice lady that I already knew a bit but ran into again recently. She asked me to participate in a Wellness Fair at Wesley Woods this Saturday and I'm excited about being asked and can't wait!! I'm going to be doing a demonstation on growing an organic patio tomato and handing out samples of a delectible organic cucumber tomato salad made with fresh Rosemary grown in my own organic garden. This refreshing salad is an often requested item in my catering business.......

Then I came to perhaps my favorite part of the tour. I ran into Mr. Tom Wear and Ms. Carolyn Felloes doing a soundcheck for an upcoming party and cutting a little rug to some big band music. Isn't this just heartwarming and precious??......

Come on down to Newnan to visit. Prince and I will give you the grand tour and we'll all have a big glass of sweet tea under a big oak tree with Spanish Moss. Perhaps we'll all put on a little music and have a dance of our own under a blanket of bright stars on a clear Georgia night.......

A Letter My Kiddos And My Mom

My darlings,

I can't believe that another year has passed and it is already Mother's Day again. It seems just like last week that you were running around like banshees and I was taxi-ing you to baseball, Kung-Fu, ballet, birthday parties, band practice and summer camps.

You took a nap and woke up grown and I can't believe it at all. Now Miss Nan is going to make us grandparent's soon and we are excited beyond belief........new life in our family that will be cherished and adored.

I long for you every single day even though you are a phone call away.......

Mr. J. You loved to wear my sunglasses and broke at least a hundred pairs. I just bought more.........

This is one of my very favorite pictures in the world taken about 20 years ago. We were all so young and happy...........

Dearest Mom, this year will mark 33 years since you've been with our family here on earth. I remember when we would get together like this at your Mom's, our Gran's, when we were little kiddos. We were loud, boisterious, wild and somewhat destructive as a group and you laughed it off..........most of the time. I often wonder what you would think of me today as a grown woman.........

I always like to imagine that you and Dad are dancing to Glen Miller or Tommy Dorsey on a cloud still watching over us and probably still having a laugh. I hope you know that your grand kiddo's would adore you and I know how excited you would be that we are going to have a little one running around soon. Please watch over out little one from up above as only a great-grandmother can do. And please.........help me with all of this because I have no idea what is in store for me other than great joy and much laughter................

Crazy awesome week around here!!!! Loved every minute of it though.....

I posted science girl's assignment for the coming week's Friday Shoot-Out at the bottom of this post so be sure to check it out if you wanna shoot someone or something.........

I saw this sign and couldn't resist.......while I would NEVER actually utter these words I will hold up a sign that speaks for me............Hey, if you've ever had an ex-anything you totally get this :)

I wish that I had more of Emily's chocolate jelly, which is actually like a thick chocolate sauce to have with a few apple slices. My favorite flavors are the ones with orange and raspberry essence in them...........

Cousin Four and the Cuz Cashe's were so bored the other night that they resorted to this......It was kind of like a cling wrap concert because they were humming into it and then popping it. I can't answer any questions on this one because I totally don't get it but whatever I suppose. Kids!!!! Go figure........

Assignment for May 15 as written by our new friend and shooter Science Girl in France. Sounds like a challenge and I'm up for it. This won't be as difficult as it sounds so let's everyone get creative. We are all blessed with ingenuity in the gang so lets tackle this one with vigor!!!!!..........

Boy, this week I feel like we should all have our own special episode on HGTV. The amazing gigi @ afterthoughts picked this weeks subject and what a fantastic choice she made. I love gardens of all kinds and gardening is one of my passions. In Newnan, Georgia we have some amazing gardener's is our midst. Nothing gets you closer to God than digging in the earth and then watching the splendor and fruits of your loving labor unfold before your very eyes. I hope you enjoy our gardens theme as much as I enjoyed taking these snaps.

You've got your veggie gardens. A couple of these are snaps from my very own organic garden.....a couple of them aren't lol...........

You've got your rock gardens. I especially love the little rock garden with the plaque dedicated to "The Victims and Heroes of 9/11 and The Everyday Heroes Among Us". I'm proud to say that I took that at an elementary school near me where I know most of those big hearted kiddos. I also really like the little garden made of handmade mosaic stepping stones........

Then you've got your flower gardens. I so love flowers. Some of these shots are from my very own flower gardens. Then another couple come from one of my best girlfriend's yard. There are 2 from another friend's who is a Master Gardener. I am mesmerized by flower gardens and could spend hours working in mine and hours looking at others. Thenk you gigi for choosing this week's subject..........it's one dear to my heart...........

Ellie got cold last night because we turned on the attic fan so she had to wear a sweater................

I found this actual copy of a 1950 menu from Woolworth's........

You can click on the menu to get a better view and see that you could get an ice cold Coca~Cola for a dime. If you wanted a nice plain or toasted triple decker bacon and tomato sandwich with that, it would run you a whopping 60 cents. Throw in a malt made with a double scoop of ice cream, you're up to 85 cents. Now, top that off with a nice piece of apple pie and you've had a nice lunch for the grand total of $1.00. I remember the old Woolworth's lunch counter (and NOT from the 1950's, it was still around in the 70's!!) and my grandmother used to take us there for a treat downtown sometimes. My, things sure have changed alot...........................

My, wasn't Audrey Hepburn just a classic beauty?? I think every young girl wanted to be Holly Golightly after seeing Breakfast at Tiffany's. She always had such style and a certain natural grace to her...........Their just aren't many ladies like this around Hollywood any longer.........

A really simple concept going here..........

Every week one of our gang members name is drawn from a hat by either I or Patty and they get to pick the weekly photo theme. No rules, no big critiques......we just want to see your town through your eyes. We have quite a few countries represented.....Brasil, Japan, the Philippines, Canada, China, Auckland, Australia and loads of states in the U.S.

Our gang does an awesome job every week and it's so much fun to see other people's town through their eyes and lens.

Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday and I love to post about my beautiful hometown of Newnan, Georgia on this day. I really do think that I live in the most beautiful and friendly town on earth. Since the weather has become warmer I see so many people I know while I'm out and about and it's so very nice to stop and chat with folks you know about the weather and what's happening around town.

A few things I spied around Newnan this week............

Barbie Beaches and Cotton Pickin Fairs

Okay, so Prince and I go to the Cotton Pickin Fair this weekend with our good friends the Foster Failures. Getting out for a day of fun with friends is so priceless.

On the way there, we pass this Barbie Beach. Please do yourself a favor and click on this to get a better look. Yep, it's a man made beach full of Barbie and her friends in someone's front yard. This Barbie Beach is so well known in Newnan that I see that even Shrek has dropped by this weekend. As a matter of fact a couple of years back, someone stole all of this ladies Barbies out of her front yard and it was total mayhem!! It made front page news!! People from all over town sent new Barbie's and the beach was again full of sunbather's. I kid you not..........

This one's for Airman Mom. The first thing we did before we went in was watch these students do a training exercise with while flying American flags on their horses while God Bless America played. If you haven't been to Airman Mom's site, check it out. She sings the praises of our soldiers daily and is a true patriot...........

I think that's a fantastic subject. I do know that it's not spring/summer everywhere but there is something growing and with the open suggestions that gigi has given everyone can find something along these lines.

Friday Shoot-Outs - My Town Architecture

TGIF and time for our weekly gang project. If you are a new member or a first time shooter, welcome....we're all so happy to have you participating in our project.

Jen chose architecture as this weeks subject. I've chosen a hodgepodge of things that involve architecture Of some form. I used a lot of old buildings, houses and barns as my interpretation for this week. For some reason old places always pique my interest. I wonder about their history and what has taken place in these buildings in years gone by. Gigi has chosen next weeks theme and I've listed it at the bottom. You know guys, I think we're doing far more than merely taking pictures in our "Friday Shoot-Outs........we're recording the life of our cities in photographs.......

She-Ro's, Gigi's and English to English

I have a weekly She-Ro!! This is Ms. Laraine a super sweet lady whom I've grown to love dearly. She always has a smile on her face and kind words of wisdom to share when I see her every week. Ms. Laraine is walking in the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society this Friday. As you all know, cancer has touched my life. Actually in several says. My Grandmother and my Great-grandmother both died of breast cancer and I've had my own little run in with it of late. People like Ms. Laraine help to raise money for research for the cure. Walk on Ms. Laraine, you inspire me. I'm absolutely certain that God put you in my life at the time He did for a reason.

I'd like to give a big ole Southern Shout-Out to my good friend GingerV. Thank you so very much for the breathtaking 8x10's you sent me of native flowers and mountain views in Brasil!! They are so beautiful and I've framed them all and they are now hanging in my office over my computer for inspiration. I think of you everytime I see them. You're a doll................

We seem to be having a couple of translation problems in our kitchen lately. As you know, Prince in from London and sometimes he uses a few words when he's helping me cater that make me say "Huh"??. Me? I like to be a southern individualist and sometimes don't get all that fancy lingo..............

Cling Wrap = Saran Wrap
Decant = Put it in another bowl
Bacon = Ham (he means what I call Canadian Bacon)
Bacon Rasher = Slice of Bacon
Tart plate = pie pan
Capsicum = A green or red bell pepper (what??????)
Tin of tuna = A can of tuna
School Prawns = shrimp (again......HUH????)

Anyway, we muddle through and one day I'll learn to talk Prince real good......

I put the names in a hat for a fair pick at who gets to name next weeks subject for "Friday Shoot-Outs" and my baby Ellie picked for me..........

Wacky Wednesdays Are For The Birds!

I certainly can't take credit for this awesome picture though I wish that I could. A girlfriend sent it to me and isn't it cool?

I've been so slammed in my catering business that this is all I've got today. Hey, I'm not complaining. I couldn't ask for more!! I love to stay busy and of course the payola is a huge plus.

But, I do make my own bird food because I love to see my feathered friends all around my yard. This recipe is so easy and makes quite a bit so it lasts for awhile. We have many birdhouses and feeders around our yard. We've been spying nests being made and getting ready for eggs and courting dances of male birds trying to impress the ladies with their mating rituals. Boy, they really put themselves out there sometimes, don't they? Of course, most of the ladies play it coy, cool and hard to get!
Try this wonderful wild bird food...........the birds around your house will love it!!

****2 pounds lard, 2 cups flour
36 oz jar peanut butter, 2 cups cornmeal
8 cups wild bird seed mix

Melt ingredients together. Once it's cool but still liquid, pour into loaf pan lined with plastic wrap. Leave enough plastic wrap around the edges to fold back on itself. When it's solid, put it in the freezer to use as needed. I just peel back the plastic wrap, cut off a piece and put into mesh bags or wire feeders. Sit back and watch the rainbow of colors that will flock to your bird feeders for this tasty treat.

The beautiful birds that will visit for this treat will brighten your day with their brilliant colors and thrilling song. Sometimes the singing around here sounds like a musical festival and I love being enveloped in the birds' uplifting melodies.

This Tuesday I'd like to introduce you to the people who make everything happen in Newnan. I was invited down to the Employee Appreciation Luncheon given by City Hall to recognize all the hard work that makes our town run so smoothly. The officials were having a big cookout with all the trimmings!! The City of Newnan always recognizes and encourages an atmosphere of community amongst our town's people who always work so hard to make our fair city a better place to live and work. They treat each and every individual in our town like family which makes Newnan, Georgia the best place on earth to live........this is God's Country!!

I met my hostess for the day, Linda, at the Office of Business Development and Main Street to stroll on over to the cook-out.............

This is Linda Kee-Bridges who runs Main Street Newnan. She's a beautiful and lively lady who makes events like the Taste of Newnan and Market Days in the Square all go off without a hitch. After lunch Ms. Linda and I ran over to the CEC and bought a few (okay more than a few) plants that the students in the horticulture department were selling to raise funds for future projects. I don't know about your yard Linda but mine is looking pretty good with all of those gorgeous plants we got........

This is Bob Coggin one of our City Councilmen and our Chief of Police Buster Meadows. They were telling me that they grew up together and have known each other all of their lives. I go to church with Buster and work on our churche's transportation committee with him. He makes things happen at our church as well as in our fair city. He's a super nice guy and hey, it always pays to know the Chief of Police, lol...........

I had a wonderful time at the Employee Appreciation Cookout. I knew so many people there and met some new people who were all so friendly, welcoming and of course super nice. I hope I get invited next year (hint, hint Linda) so I can meet more of the people who make Newnan the beautiful and special place that it is..........it's like one big family. Come on down and visit us sometime. We'll roll out the red carpet for you and treat you like family as well. Heck, we might even make you some peach cobbler.

Wild Game Cook-Offs and Crazy in Alabama

Okay, Saturday Prince and I drive to Alabama for the annual Stockton Civic Club's Annual Wild Game Cook-Off. We have no clue what's in store but Big Bro and Gypsy Sista need Prince to be a judge. We love to spend a weekend with them so, we're off!!!!!!

I'll bet those other ladies are kicking themselves now because you couldn't see what was inside the gift bag..........

NEXT FRIDAY'S SUBJECT: Architecture in your town. The pretty, the old, the new, the crumbling, the wood, the brick, the renovated, the sadly falling........
We'd like to see the architecture in your town. Great choice pretty, talented Jen. I love in a very historic town so this should be a blast for me!! Patty @Crisfield Maryland picked Jen's name from a hat and next week I'm going to pick one out of a hat. We'll keep picking from participants until everyone has a turn picking the weekly subject. Then we'll start all over again. It is my hope that we never run out of names because there will be so many participants that everyone who joins will soon have a turn and then there will be more and more names to throw in the hat. How fun!!

Since a few of you were asking about how to "sign up", it's so easy you don't have to :) Just think....no forms to fill out, we don't need your social security number, you don't even have to give blood!! Myself and Patty subscribe to the K~I~S~S method: Keep It Simple Stupid........we've found that it works best that way. It would take all of the fun out of the whole project if people had to join this, join that, follow this rule, follow that rule, make sure they only post certain pictures. It's all about your interpretation of the weekly subject. That's what makes it so intriguing. One subject could have an entirely different meaning for anyone. Just simply take the subject and shoot it the way that you see it.....that's the fun of it all. And the gang part. I've always wanted to be in a gang and have a great big ole posse............

Friday Shoot-Out......Kids & Best Friends

TGIF!!!!!!!!!! Time for "Friday Shoot-Out's". Friday has become my favorite blog day because I can feature my beautiful town of Newnan, Georgia and the rich treasures it beholds. We now have people from all over the planet participating and the only person we are missing is YOU.

We did an anything goes subject his week so I picked kids and best friends. I love kiddos and I love best friends. My heart sings when I see children laughing, and playing. I love to see best friends together having a great time and loving one another. A best friend is there for you when no one else in the world is. As a matter of fact...........a best friend is the one coming in the door when everyone else is going out the door. Priceless, no?

Shout-out to a wonderful friend, Ms. Laraine who is doing the Relay For Life. You go with your sweet beautiful self honey and raise money for the cure!! It's so needed and THANK YOU!! It is one of my dreams, that cancer will be curable in my lifetime. While I'm doing shout out's.....Science Girl in France......THANK YOU for all the research you and fellow scientists do on a daily basis to eradicate this terrible disease, right Audrey????

Patty and I will pick back up with a specific theme next week. I can't wait to see all of your interpretations from around the world and in the United States. I say it's a revolution...........

Inside Out BLT'S and Having Babies

Summer time means lots of things but good vine ripe tomatoes is one of my favorites. Nothing says summer like a good Blt right? I made some inside out BLT's and they were so awesome that I have to share the recipe with you. Your family will love them and they are a great quick meal. Just add a little salad and voila...a delicious lunch or dinner.

All you need are tomatoes, french bread, shredded Romaine lettuce, as much cooked bacon as you like, shredded sharp cheddar and a little mayo. Cut the tomatoes in half and scoop out the inside. Then cube the french bread and mix it with the other ingredients...........

After mixing the ingredients together, stuff the tomatoes and cover more cheese. Bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes until tomatoes get hot all they way through........

Serve and have a taste treat. It's much lower in calories because you can control the amount of bread that you use or of course, you can used any type of light or reduced fat bread..........Deliriously Delicious!!!!!............

This is my cousin Spanky asleep after our last family meal. There seems to be some pattern going with the men in my family having a huge meal and then falling asleep on the sofa. Wonder what that's all about???????.........

During Spring break I had a few of the kiddos from the bus ministry over for a tea party. We had a great time. These kids are awesome.......

And now to the "Having Babies" part. Miss Nan our daughter has just announced that she is carrying our first grandchild!! We are elated and can't wait to spoil it and send it home. I wonder what they will name it??? I wonder what in the world I'm going to wear for the baby shower and far more importantly to the hospital for the birth??? I certainly don't want Grand-kiddo's first memory of me to be looking like I just rolled out of the bed. I suppose I'll just have to purchase something new for the occasion...........drat, what a drag. Prince will be thrilled to hear that I must have a new birthing wardrobe..............okay, I feel old.

I love Tuesdays because I love to show you my beautiful hometown of Newnan, Georgia. We have such a beautiful, charming and friendly town. We love to sit in rocking chairs on our front porches, sit under the stars at night for outdoor concerts or grand fireworks during the summer and we love to have visitor's. So next time you're in town.....please stop by and I'll give you a real grand tour in person.

Friday Shoot-Outs and Food Y'all All!!

It's Friday so time for a little Shootin. Our gang's subject this week is "My Hometown Native Foods and Resturants" chosen by the lovely Loida in China. I could not have asked for a better theme because this week was the Taste Of Newnan in my hometown. That's a couple of the fine fellows from Newnan Utilities grilling up some burgers at the top. Every local resturant, church or caterer gather's and Mainstreet Newnan sells tokens for samples of delicious food. Prince and I walked around Court Square, ran into old friends, made new friends and ate far too much. As always, I had a hard time choosing which photos to post!! I couldn't even post them all or else this would go on into the weekend.

Ready? Let's go......

Let's begin with some Peanut Butter and Jelly wings from the culinary arts school at West Georgia Technical college. Looks like this lady gives them a thumbs up .......

Dessert at Cousin Sis's house. We call it chocolate stuff and it makes my hips sooo very happy..........

10 East Washington's front porch for al fresco dining. Always a unique dining occasion with Chef George while you watch the locals walk about........

Andre's Off The Square Resturant and Martini Bar.....wonderful meals and add a dirty martini and I'm there. Often.......

Bubba the Bear from 92.5, one of Prince's favorite spots on the radio, and some groupie. They play great music on that station and they also had a band there that "forced" Prince and I to cut a little rug on our way out and to Cousin Four's baseball game. "Dancing in the Streets" by Martha Reeves and the Vandella's comes to mind. Cousin Four's team won their game won by the way..........

Now, how cute is this kiddo? Having a french fry with ketchup while watching his brother play baseball. I'd personally like to thank France for these goodies. (My thighs would NOT like to thank France for these goodies!) Don't get much better than this than does it? Until I have human grand-kiddos I'm just going to spoil everyone elses kids. They're only little once and you will long for them everyday when they are gone. Trust me on that one......

What georgeous weather we've been having here in Newnan, Georgia!! I was out and about a good deal this week and I love the beautiful flowers that are blooming everywhere and the fact that we can all get outdoors again (and back to capri's and flip flops!).

Today I have to go to the doctor for more blood work. I'm a person who pretty much despises going to the doctor and lately feel like I live from one medical appointment to the next. It's autopilot these days. I find that I listen to Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" a lot these days where she sings about clouds and ice cream ant not knowing life at all...........

Tomorrow's "Friday Shoot-Out" subject is : MY HOMETOWN NATIVE FOODS AND RESTURANTS.

I was in town yesterday delivering lunches when I went by City Hall and saw the crowd protesting the stimulus plan and yet more spending. I spoke to this lady who said that she home schools her children and was teaching them about government so she brought them out for an interactive lesson. It seems to me that right now we are calling ALL spending "stimulas spending" and that phrase seems a tad desperate me.........

Wacky Wednesday's When We Wonder Why????

Well, it's Wednesday and I'm wondering about a few things........actually lots of things but cyberspace doesn't have enough time to address all the 'why's' running around in my head. I'll just go with a few for today.......

Okay......why? I mean, don't get me wrong....I really love all of the vivid colors and someone took out lots of time knitting this scarf for this tree. But why? Was the tree cold? Did the scarf go with a new hat or coat? Is this tree trying to make a fashion statement and if so what statement is it trying to make? I'm also really wondering if the person who did this has enough time left on their hands to come paint our barn? We'll supply lunch...........actually, it's growing on me (Get it??Growing on me.....never mind :) I really do like it

Well now, this gives new meaning to "Why did the chicken cross the road" doesn't it?. Is he just playing hard to get(B&B)? I've personally never seen a dude try to out run this many females unless.....he must have been caught red handed in another hen house? Maybe the girls heard him talking on his cell phone and just misunderstood his end of the conversation?. Why isn't he just facing up to the music? Why doesn't he just buy them some new jewelry or roses? Why better yet, doesn't he just buy them a big ole name brand bag of cracked corn and beg for forgiveness? Personally, I'd let bygones be bygones for a great big canary diamond.......and I do mean a b~i~g canary diamond..........

Who is your REAL friend? Ladies..........try this experiment. Put your dude and your pup in the trunk of your car at the same time for one hour (you might want to try this before it gets really, really hot outside). When you open that trunk up......which one is going to be the happiest to see you? One's doing to be wagging it's tail.....and the other one? Maybe not so much. I think that maybe you should only try this one at home. There's some kind of crazy law about keeping people in the trunk of your car against their will and besides other people just won't understand that you are merely conducting an experiment.........

Tuesdays Touring Newnan - City Of Homes

I always have a Tuesday tour of things I've spotted in my beautiful town of Newnan, Georgia. This is the best place in the world to live. Nothing beats the enticing aroma of the pies baking through someone's screen that I smelled while out walking about town the other night.

Drive up to see us sometime. You'll pass through groves of dogwoods, then magnolias, before you duck under an allee of live oaks, forming a living tunnel of perpetual shade. We are an enchanted place in the soft green countryside of Georgia where yesterdays have yet to retire.

My produce guy Vernon......I caught him sitting in his truck between customer's. His tomatoes are good, until mine come in that is. Go see him on Highway 16, he sells lots and lots of delicious watermelons out of the back of his red truck when the season begins..........

I pulled my best damsel in distress and said to Prince "Please run out there and get my plants"......I had only just potted a few of them an didn't want them to get beat to death. I know what you're thinking!! Maybe (I said maybe) I was wrong to send Prince out there in all of that.....but.......errr....in my defense I really had just potted some of them. Look at my yard filled with hail. It as like a blizzard......

I put a piece next to my shoe so that you see how ginormous the pieces were. I hope they didn't hurt my plants. I'm gonna be mad if it hurt my plants. (In case you're wondering....Prince didn't get hurt at all. As a matter of fact, he laughed at me, which I find that he does quite a bit these days. (What does that really mean? He's not laughing "with" me either)..........

Prince gave me this beautiful Willow Tree Angel of Hope for Easter. How sweet is he??? I love the lantern that she's carrying. See why he's my Prince??.........

Playing peek-a-boo with my niece the future Miss Georgia. She's hiding under her daddy's arm because she thought I couldn't see her there.........

The Cuz Girls........I think this was supposed to be a snapshot of our heads but Cuz Scoot didn't get it exactly that way. We think we may keep her anyway........

A great shot of the Cuz Girls. No one had a fist fight or cursed at each other this year.......always a plus right? Though we don't always see eye to eye, we do always see heart to heart which is priceless..........

Bagman.........where's that chocolate bunny you were supposed to leave outside my front door dude???? A broken promise is a broken heart. You can make it up to me with precious jewels though. I'm particulary fond of rubies.............

We want you to join our "Friday Shoot-Out" gang!! That's right...we have a GANG! Any suggestions on gang colors and signs to throw?

The best thing about it that you get to meet some super cool people and have a little look-see at life in their hometowns. Every week one of our gang member's picks a subject and we shoot photo's of the theme in our hometowns.

No rules go with this venture........it's a fun project. If you'd like to participate check in at my blog or any other participant's blog and see the week's theme then snap away and post your Shoot-Out on Friday's. Please, if you don't mind, try to make "Friday Shoot-Out" part of your post title so that we can all check you out as we scroll down our dashboards. It's pretty easy to spot!! When one of us see that you are posting, we'll notify the ever gracious and cool Gordon over at FRIDAY SHOOT-OUTS FROM FLORIDA because he is keeping a list of participant's posted. He's kind of our "unofficial" official Papa. As a matter of fact, I gave him another 2 name to add to our ever growing list just today. We're waiting for YOU!!

Friday Shoot-Out - The Main Four

TGIF. What a week it's been!! busy, busy, busy and productive. Today, it's "Friday Shoot-Outs". The talented GingerV @ flowersandmore chose this weeks subject....The Main Four. The Main Four (5 or 6 even) intersections around our towns, storefronts, vendors, traffic lights, traffic, people, anything that represents our towns main intersections. Newnan is a very historic town and our downtown area thrives mainly around Court Square and the streets that run off and behind it. The blocks around Court Square are full of wonderful unique stores, hometown resturant's and happy people.

Thank you GingerV for choosing such a fantastic subject. I had a great time shooting this week and it reminded me of many things I love about my home town.

So without further ado, here we do........

A pretty house right behind town square. Since Newnan is known as The City Of Homes, I wouldn't have felt right not to throw a couple into my mix.......

Marquee sign at the Alamo which used to be the only movie theater in the town itself. It still has the orginal stage, the projector's and a couple of rows of the original seats inside......now there are two movie theaters way on the outskirts of town....

Fabulous by Design and The Vintage Flea store fronts. Both of these shops are chock to the walls filled with way cool stuff. I get "stuff" here........

A nice couple in love that I ran into by the square when I was out shooting for this project. I asked for a quick shot and they so kindly posed for a second. This town is just full of nice friendly people.......

A sweet beautiful young couple having a bite of dinner outside the Redneck Gourmet and their rescue pup Maggie. How sweet is this picture?? I took this on Wednesday early evening and it was a beautiful evening to sit outside and have a meal al fresco......

Next week, beautiful Loida has chosen "My Home Towns Native Food and Resturant's" for the Friday Shoot Out. That should be another interesting one I think. I love seeing everyone elses town through their eyes. This is one of the highlights of my week......seeing everyone's Friday Shoot-Out pictures representing their towns.

As we observe such a Holy holiday, lets remember the earthquake victims in Italy and their families, the tornado victims in Arkansas and their neighbor's and family, the hostages being held on ship by Pirates in Somalia and our brave, heroic soldier's and their families who fight daily to keep our country free and to allow us to observe Holy holiday's such as these.

Hippity Hoppity Easter's On It's Way

Wow, I can't believe that it's almost Easter. Sunday morning children will be waking to beautiful baskets left especially for them from the Easter Bunny. They will be filled with chocolate bunnies, colorful Peeps, speckled Robin eggs (my favorite) and jelly bean eggs. How exciting that will be for them!! My pups will all get a small veggie burger made especially for them and I will tell them that the Easter Bunny left it for them.......

Tomorrow is the "Friday Shoot-Out". This week's subject is My Town - The Four" chosen by GingerV @flowersandmore in Brasil. Anything that revolves around the main intersections of your town.....storefront's, alley's, street signs, traffic lights, people, traffic. It's all about interpretation as there are No Rules in this fun project. Whining has already been taking place all week about having no traffic lights and such (okay, before everyone goes crazy one me....I'm totally kidding). Improvise.......everyone has a town of some sort. Let's see your's through your eyes. Are we posting on Friday's or Thursday nights this week Patty? Just so we're all on the same page.

Daughter Visits, Lunches and Grand Dogs

My daughter Miss Nan came to see me!!!!! YAY, we had the best time, but then....we always do. She brought my Grand Dog the beautiful Malibu to see me and to play with her cuz dogs. Not too much fighting and vying for attention but.....a few little very minor "Alpha Dog" run-in's. Nothing serious though. Her bird, my grand-bird Sculley who lives with Prince and I for a while was so happy to see her. He started going crazy as soon as her heard her voice!! He loves my kiddo......but not nearly as much as I do. He's just staying with Grandma Gigi for awhile.
I love my Grand-Dog and excited to see her as well. Wow, did she look great.

Lunches this week are listed below. What a great time I had taking my daughter around with me to meet everyone. She is my sunshine........

My catered lunches this week, ready to go.......

Bacon, lettuce and tomato salad with my own special BLT salad dressing, cabbage and apple slaw, wheat thins, 1/2 an apple, a Splenda mint and low fat, low sugar gingerbread men with Splenda sweetened white chocolate on the backside........

Scully our Quaker Parrot. He talks up a storm. He's been so grouchy lately because he's molting....

Again, beautiful Malibu. I swear, she is America's next top doggie model right??? Fierce......

My darling girl had to go back home today. I miss her already and can't wait to see her again. We talked about 4 times while she was making her 2 1/2 hour journey and that still wasn't enough. That's my kiddo you know????? My heart.....my joy.....
