I am still unable to post any of my pictures to Blogger right now.
In lieu of pictures I am posting my favorite poem that starts with the letter "M". I hope that you will find as much meaning to this beautiful poem as I do.
MYSELF
I have to live with myself, and so
I want to be fit for myself to know.
I want to be able, as days go by,
Always to look myself straight in the eye.
I don't want to stand with the setting sun,
And hate myself for things I have done.
I don't want to keep on a closet shelf
A lot of secrets about myself,
And fool myself, as I come and go,
Into thinking that nobody else will know
The kind of a man I really am;
I don't want to dress up myself in sham.
I want to go out with my head erect,
I want to deserve all men's respect;
But here in the struggle for fame and self
I want to be able to like myself
I don't want to look at myself and know
That I'm bluster and bluff, an empty show.
I can never hide myself from me;
I see what others may never see.
I know what others may never know,
I never can fool myself, and so,
Whatever happens, I want to be
Self-respecting and conscience free.

Wonderful words to live by Reggie Girl - thank you for posting that!
ReplyDeleteMMMMissing your great pics. Hope the computer problem is fixed soon!
xoxoxo
I have always loved that poem, RG. I used to have parts of it memorized.
ReplyDeleteHope you can get something posted. Are you having computer problems, too.
I had some nice "M" stuff ready, but it is all locked away. I have been fighting with Dell for 4 weeks, telling them they were going to fool around and corrupt something. They weren't happy until they finally locked me out. Once I get the new hard dive in, I will have an entire new computer. I am just fearful that the 400 photos sitting in my desktop will be lost if something else goes wrong.
Oh well, "Tomorrow is another day."
Have a good day.
Excellent. Love the late Edgar Guest. He was a very insightful man.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem! I will have to come back later and see if your pics are up. I joined you this week! I had a lot of fun and hope to do more Friday Shoot Outs! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh I had not read this one - it's wonderful!! Thank you for sharing instead of pictures!! Hope that resolves itself!! My hard drive fried - I mean up in smoke, sizzle, sizzle with about 300 pictures I could not retrieve!!

Hi Reggie Girl :)
ReplyDeleteI just loved that poem I had never heard/read it before. You may want to try Windows Live Writer to write your posts then they can be automatically published to blogger you just have to set it up with your blog name and password. It is a free download here: http://windowslivewriter.spaces.live.com/
It is so much nicer and easier than bloggers own posting area....A lot of my friends who blog use it. Have a great weekend
That is a terrific poem, good verses to live by. I sure hope blogger lets you post pictures soon as I miss them!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
Hugs from Alaska

Great poem RG.
ReplyDeleteI love you and me!
I want to be able, as days go by,
ReplyDeleteAlways to look myself straight in the eye.
This is the most meaningful part to me.....love it reggie.
thanks and hope your blog will be back to normal soon....hugs.
Lovely poem, Reggie girl and so true! I'm wondering if your problem with the pictures is to do with Blogger itself? Have you used up all your available space on here? If so, you might want to delete some old posts to make more room or start another Blog perhaps. I'm sure I saw somewhere that we have so much room and no more. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Star
I love this poem...it truly sums up the heart's desire!!! Thank you!!! I'll think on this one all weekend!!!~Janine XO
ReplyDeleteA wonderful post in lieu of photos! :)

Yes, that is it, exactly.

Reggie Girl, there's a book--I believe it's about meditation--called "Wherever You Go, There You Are." This post reminds me of that.
ReplyDeleteLovely Poem Reggie Girl, I was worrying before I went to bed that I hadn't seen you!
ReplyDeleteSarah Lulu xxxx
WONDERFUL poem!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen it before and was blessed!
Love & Light~
OM girl
Wonderful poem. I've used Flickr lately for posting photos and not Blogger, so don't know if anything is wrong there or not.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed catching up on your blog. Wish we could adopt a pet right now, but now is not the time.. it will happen though.
Very nice! (And is anyone else seeing the irony in the fact that "erect" and "respect" rhyme?)
ReplyDeletelove the poem!! hope they get blogger's issues fixed... im painting my bedroom this weekend and im hoping to post pics when its done!!! hope yours is happy!! xox.... annie
ReplyDeleteGreat poem and a nice break from photos!
ReplyDeleteOh ,that poem is just the way to live our life. Thank you Reggie.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to catching up soon with your pics.
Sending love.xx♥
Yes, a good poem. Who said there was a rule that the hometown photo shoot out had to have photos in it anyway?! Bagman has gone off to find a sham to dress in. Or a dress to sham in. Which was it now?
ReplyDeleteReggie,
ReplyDeleteWhere do I find a list of the shoot out gangs blog so I can visit them?
This poem is like a Creed and should be posted on the inside of everybody's door before they step out into the world. I love it. Thanks for sharing it Reggie girl.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely poem! I also heard that you had lunch with Ginger. I love that. You are a treasure in this blogging community!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this poem but I really love it. It is something that everyone should aspire to.
ReplyDeleteDear Reggie, very nice poem, thanks for sharing,
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Rosana
Wow! amazing poem that I read for a long time. Its a good reminder if one reads this once a while.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard that poem, but I have copied it and plan to hang it up. We should all live up to it. Sorry to hear about the computer troubles. Seems we all end up with them at some time or another. I too have been having trouble with blogger, I sign in and suddenly the whole page is being taken over by Internet Explorer and it freezes. There I sit unable to do anything at all. I myself have not been on the computer much this week, life and work keeping me busy, family even more so. Where do the days disappear to!! Been missing everyone, I even missed out on posting for Friday's shoot out. I will have to try harder this week and see if I can't carve out some time for myself and my beloved blog and friends!! hope all is well in your corner of the world. sending HUGZ your way, Debby
ReplyDeleteHowdy Reggie Girl
ReplyDeleteLove the poem.
I have got to remember this one.
I have had so many problems with blogger recently I have wanted to throw something.
Well no not really but it has been tempting :)
Have a fantastic week my blogging girlfriend.
Blessings to you sweetie.
Happy Trails
Hugs
What an inspiring poem and totally understand why it's your favorite. One might live by at least a stanza a day but why not go for the whole thing at once. Really enjoyed it and hope your photo issues get solved!!
ReplyDeleteReally wise words to live by. I'm afraid my current post doesn't contain such wisom, just Margaritaville partyin!
ReplyDeleteThe world is like a mirror, reflecting all you do
ReplyDeleteAnd if you face it smiling, it will smile right back at you.
There is so much good advice in poetry! I love your poem and I need to share it with my students when I go back to school. I am always telling them to respect themselves and each other. Meaningful insights. Thank you for bringing it to share. =D
Terrific poem Reggie girl (and you'll always be girl) it speaks truth, I think i'll print it out!!
ReplyDeleteLove ya' girl!! Hope the blogger issue gets cleared up for you soon. ;D
I loved the poem. Thank for posting it.
ReplyDeleteI was just over reading GingerV's blog and see the two of you had lunch together. Something tells me that would be a memorable encounter.
RG: I emailed you. I understand you are having computer problems. Hope that is all it is, gal.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, people are wanting to know what the assignment is for this Friday, so I am going to let Gordon pick a name in your absence, since he is practically our official gang secretary.
Email me!
