We have chosen hope over fear.

Prince and I are starting our own business this year. We're a little nervous about doing so because the economy is so strange right now. We've decided to just jump right in and take the plunge. We aren't getting any younger....to say the least!!

Prince and I have always wanted to work for ourselves. We figure that since we have both been in management, we'll be pretty good bosses to ourselves. One of my passions is gardening. I have always loved to till the earth, plant seeds and watch and wait for them to spring upright out of the ground. Gardening is theraputic for me. This year we are planting an organic garden of fresh herbs and exotic peppers. Three resturant's in our charming little small town have already offered to buy all the organic cilantro, parsley, jalapeno, habanero and chipotle peppers that we can grow. They buy their's at the Farmer's Market and have to make that trip daily. I will deliver straight to their back doors.

I have always believed "Find What You Truly Love To Do In Life And Make It Your Passion". Gardening is what I love to do and I'm really good at it. The overhead will be low because we are using our own land. The labor will be cheap because it will be our sweat that works the garden.

Geez, I hope this works out. From our lips.......to God's ears. (Shout out to Andrew for allowing me to use the "El Paso Sunset" picture he took while visiting his parent's. Awesome pic buddy!!)

You just can't make this up.......

There are some things that are so funny and outrageous that you just can't make them up. I often times find everyday life hilarious. What follows is an actual conversation that I had in the checkout line at my local Walmart as I was innocently just trying to pay for my few items and get home:

Grice: "Little lady, let me give you my card"

Reggie Girl :"Sure". (Big mistake! This guy is a taxidermist. No, this is not a joke!!!).

Grice: "If you ever need any kind of animal stuffed, I'm really good so give me a call. I do ground squirrels, ducks, deer heads and atlers, pretty much anything".

Reggie Girl : "Okay, I don't really ever need anything like that but If I ever do, I'll be sure to keep you in mind". (Secretly I'm appalled, but Grice seems so proud of himself that I don't have the heart not to listen).

Grice: "I do a lot of fish too. Fish can be a taxidermist's bread and butter. Fish, you have to be real careful with the fins. You have to ease them out, spread them out wet onto balsa wood and just let them dry naturally".

Reggie Girl: "Well, I suppose if you learn the proper technique, you can mount just about anything".

Grice: "Yes mamn, I went to a school to learn to do this. That's why I'm buying this wire, molding plaster, borax like powder and the resin. I use the resin for making glass-like eyeballs. I order tongues out of a specialty catalog that I use for stuff like squirrels and possums".

Reggie Girl: "Hey that's all really interesting but I've got to be getting home. Thanks for the card. If I ever need an animal stuffed and mounted, you'll be the first person I call".

Okay now, I pretty much run to my car at this point. I have been dying to have a good laugh ever since that conversation started. Dude was so serious and into it that I held my laughter until I got outside so that I wouldn't hurt his feelings. Seriously, I must just have that kind of approachable face that some guy in the 10 Items Or Less checkout would just strike up this conversation. Either that or he is desperately lonely. So, if anyone ever need's anything like his services, give me a call. I'll hook you up!!

Tide gets it whiter than white........

Subject: A letter from a consumer of Tide

Dear Tide:

I am writing to say what an excellent product you have! I've used it
all of my married life, as my Mom always told me it was the best. Now that I
am in my fifties I find it even better! In fact, about a month ago, I spilled
some red wine on my new white blouse. My inconsiderate and uncaring
husband started to belittle me about how clumsy I was, and generally started
becoming a pain in the neck. One thing led to another and somehow I
ended up with his blood on my new white blouse! I grabbed my bottle of Tide
with bleach alternative, and to my surprise and satisfaction, all of the
stains came out! In fact, the stains came out so well the detectives who came
by yesterday told me that the DNA tests on my blouse were negative and
then my attorney called and said that I was no longer considered a suspect in
the disappearance of my husband.
What a relief! Going through menopause is bad enough without being a
murder suspect! I thank you, once again, for having a great product.

Well, gotta go, have to write to the Hefty bag people.

The moral of the story: NEVER mess with a menopausal woman........

Tip of hat......Wag of finger......

This is to all you folks who live in the house with me. Please read because we are going to discuss this later. I will listen to your arguments.

**Ellie Bee - You have such an incredibly hard life don't you darling? If there is such a thing as reincarnation, then I want to come back to this earth as you. I love you!! TIP OF THE HAT.........

**Sophie - You are lovely and we are going to feed you girl. I promise. You do not have to stand outside the closet door and meow at your food bag. Your bowl in already full of food, just take a look. Stop worshiping food. I really think that you may have an eating disorder. Kindly stop standing in my face at 5:30 a.m. every morning meowing for your morning treat. Is there a cat whisperer? I love you!! WAG OF THE FINGER.........

**Scully - You are hilarious. I am enchanted by the way you move you little head from side to side while we are having our deep conversations. I have fallen in love with you my little grandbird!! TIP OF THE HAT...........

**And YOU,,,,yeah YOU. You know who you are. You are the best decision that I've ever made for myself in my entire life. Please stop being obsessed that the toothbrushes are not all facing the same way in the toothbrush holder. It will be okay my Prince. They are not, and I repeat ARE NOT going to stage a revolution and murder us in our sleep!! TIP OF THE HAT AND WAG OF THE FINGER...........

**God - Sometimes I wish that you would deliver me from evil a little more often. I understand that I really have to do alot of that for myself but sometimes I just can't help but feel this way. Please though, continue to shower me with blessings. High five!!! TIP OF THE HAT............

Times are tough. I'm getting ready.

I have joined Andy's Garden Club to learn a thing or two about composting for my spring/summer garden. I want everything to be organic. I'm only going to use natural pesticide's. As soon as Prince and I move to our new lovenest, I'm going to start turning over the earth with rich natural fertilizer's and planting my spring crop!!

I spoke to the owner's of two of the local mexican restaurants and they have promised to buy all of the cilantro that I can grow. Along with other fresh herbs, cilantro it will be. I may even have a couple of back beds of cilantro. I'm excited!! This endeavor is going to be my summer job and I can't wait.

According to the Grier's Farmers Almanac, in late February I should start my tomatoes, pepper and eggplants indoors to transplant into my garden when the soil is fully warm. (And I do know from my Grandmother that you don't dare put any of that into the ground even one day before Good Friday). They even suggest doing the same for English peas, carrots and greens, such as spinach, and broccoli. The Farmer's Almanac has been around forever so you have to have a little respect for their experience.

This is going to feel like coming home for me. As a child, I used to help in both of my Grandmother's gardens during the summers. I also learned to can and freeze my garden veggies from Miss Christine aka, the greatest Grandmother ever. Period. I also learned to make pickles, preserves, jams and jellies from her. I'm so glad that I was paying attention. Canning has become a dying art.

Thank goodness I did learn this valuable information. Times are so tough that even that girl on the mudflaps of big trucks is having to apply for temp work!!!!

I am so ready for summer!!!!

Okay, I'm just not a winter girl. I'm a summer girl!! I do realize that winter happens for a reason, but I'm ready for my garden, pool and my flip-flops!!!!

I was looking through an old recipe book that I have. I found this recipe and plan to use it all summer long after working in my organic garden as I sit by our pool in the evenings. I may or may not have added a line or two to this recipe. I neither confirm nor deny either way.

"GiGi's Guaranteed Mint Julep":

*Fill the glasses with crushed ice until they are frosted. Strip the leaves
from ten good sprigs of fresh mint from your garden. Using a pestal, crush
them in a bowl with a large spoon of fine sugar and a jigger of club soda.
Add six jiggers of bourbon and leave to stand for no more than five minutes.
Strain into the glasses of ice, stir, and garnish with extra mint.

*Wear chiffon and sip through a straw with good friends. Laugh and enjoy life.

I do hope that you will all join Prince and I this summer for Mint Juleps by the pool. If this little recipe doesn't turn out well......then we can always blame Jim Beam I suppose.
(Shout out to Marie for the awesome picture of "Winter")

It has been one crazy week.

Miss Nan called me crying because she thought I would be mad at her. I told her that there is nothing that she can ever do to make so mad that I would never speak to her again. Now she calls again two to three times a day again and texts alot. My hand is numb from answering her sweet texts. It's sooo worth it.

The jellybean girl has been amazing. She always was though. She gave lil sis a lot of really good advise. Now, to see if lil sis actually heeds the good advise remains to be seen.

My friend the aspiring fireman came over to see me. He always make me laugh.

Cousin Sis and I gave Scully some chopped gala apple. He gobbled them right up like it was filet mignon. I wish it took something that cheesy to make most adults happy.

Auntie Mom made me laugh out loud with a funny e-mail this week. Priceless.

Lil Bro and his bride have apparently gone off the deep-end. Again.

Big Bro called. He was having a crazy week as well. It is nice to be able to listen to other peoples crazy week stuff. Makes you feel like maybe your own crazy week ain't so bad after all. Was there a full moon this week? Please say yes.

Dinner last night with the other gigi and her hubby at La Fiesta. They are great company. I think we all laughed for the entire two hours. Got a Big Texas margarita. It is actually the size of Texas I think and oh so good. I thought I deserved it so I drank it all. Won't be having another one soon. Made my already high blood sugar soar.

Prince and I are getting together with family for dinner and Wii this weekend. Doing things like that makes me feel normal. And loved.

Prince is just so sweet that sometimes I have to pinch him to make sure that he is real. I'm sure that he would really appreciate it if I would stop pinching him though.

Nick Saban never called. I'm sure he will next time. He must have been in a real hurry. I'll just forgive and forget this time.

Crazy week is over starting today. We have fun plans with fun people all weekend. I have alot to see to next week for Prince and my new lovenest. Can't wait to get started moving. Pool party every day at our house this summer. Bring on the joy and laughter. And the Big Texas margarita's. I wonder if they make a Little Texas?

What?? He hasn't even called me!!

I found out last night that Mr. Nick Saban is in town. Nick is H~O~T!! He flew directly into the Newnan airport. He is here to scout a player from NHS for my team. He must have lost my cell number because I was supposed to squire him all about town in my Chrysler.

Prince and Reggie girl love football. Especially Crimson Tide football. We had an awesome team last year as all Dawg fans know (yeah.....I said it). But.....our place kicker stinks. I have been needing to talk to Nick about that. We will play a fantastic game and then out comes our place kicker who misses like a 30 yard field goal. I don't know what that's all about, but it needs to stop and it needs to stop now. Maybe that's why Nick hasn't called. He must be here to scout a new kicker from NHS.

Still.........you need to call me Mr. Saban. Call me. (Did I mention that I think you are hot and that I'm NOT a stalker?). We need to sit down to discuss our 2009 season game stategy. I was thinking that we could have a little discussion over breakfast or lunch. I'm not going to be cooking, so that gives us a little more time for a one-on-one. I'll be waiting by my phone. Call me.................

I don't feel like blogging today

Yeah, I'm tired. So lets just play "Nutty Facts & Trivia"

* Which state has the most vanity license plates registered?
a) Montana b) Texas c) Virginia d) Illinois e) Nevada (answer at the bottom)

* No species of wild plant produces a flower that is absolutely black, and so far,
none has been developed artificially.

* The scent of Crayola crayons is among the 20 most recognizable smells to American
adults. (Go figure - I know I did my fair share of coloring Barbie. Still will.)

* Roughly 6500 languages are spoken in the world today. However, 2000 of those
languages have less than 1000 speakers. The most frequently spoken languages
today are: Chinese, English, Hindustani, Russian, Spanish, German, Japanese
and French.

* When famous explorer Marco Polo returned to his homeland of Italy, from China in
1295, he brought back a recipe for a dessert called "Milk Ice". However,
Europeans substituted cream for the milk and voila...."Ice Cream" was born.
(High five to Mr. Marco Polo. He topped the pool game Marco Polo here!!)

Our grandkiddo Scully lives here now.

I am very please to introduce Sculley, our first grandkiddo. Well....I suppose grandbird is a more appropriate name. Sculley is a Quaker Parrot. Miss Nan left him here. We are excited to be grandparents. And who wouldn't want to be a grandparent to this amazing fellow I ask you?

Sculley is just hilarious. I'm an early riser. Always have been. First thing when my feet hit the floor before sunrise, Sculley says "What doin?". That starts my day with a smile. According to Sculley, he's not just a pretty bird......he's a "pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty bird". I have been giving him 1 piece of yogurt covered mango first thing every morning. I'm trying to make him see that Prince and I love him and will care for him.

Now, I haven't had birds since I was 14 years old (no jokes please). I had to call Auntie Mom's step mom to make sure that we are doing right by grandbird. She was really helpful as always. Prince and I made a trip to our favorite local pet store yesterday to make sure that we have all the necessary grandbird tools. This is going to be a re-learning process.

Sculley says lots of things. Of course Prince has already started to try to teach him to say "Bloody Hell Ole Boy". Reggie girl says that is contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Whatever. Whatever makes Prince happy.

Anyhoo.........if you're local to us, please come on by and meet Sculley in person. He's a pretty cool grandkiddo.

Who will mind the "frog hospital"?

Well, Miss Nan left today. She decided to go back to the boy who has been beating and recording her every move. Because she loves him and she "just knows" that this time it will be different. And it will be. For a little while.....

I really just want to thank everyone. I am related to and have some really amazing friends. I just can't express enough gratitude for the outpouring of love that you have all shown my kiddo. She received alot of awesome things. Pretty clothes, lovely shoes, makeup, money, hair products, pajama's, socks, perfume, an offer of a free cut and style ala Cher, toothpaste ,deodorant, books and even a dog collar for my grand-dog. She had some really nice dinners, re-met some family that she hadn't seen in awhile and met some awesome friends.

She took her nice things with her. I hope that everytime she wears or uses something she realizes that this is what true love is made of. I hope she realizes that hands are not for hitting......they are for holding. I hope that she realizes that love is not supposed to make you feel bad inside.

I have only one more request. Please do not venture to tell me how I should feel unless you are me. They are my feelings and I own them. Please don't tell me what you would do if it were you, because it's not. Unless you were faced with the same exact situation, you really don't know what you would do now do you? And please, please, please don't tell me not to worry about my daughter unless you would not worry about your very own child in the same situation. Maybe, just maybe you've never thought of it this way.........but though you mean well it's actually a little insensative. Try to see it through someone elses eyes and heart.

It is my prayer that while Nan is eating her Ramen noodles while wearing her pretty new things that they taste like love to her and not gorilla.

Who will mind the frog hospital? I guess I'll watch it for her for the time-being.

Band-Aids Are Good For Open Wounds

Band--Aids are indeed good for open wounds, but what in the world do you cover the wounds that you can't see with? I don't think that they make anything that covers inside wounds and scars.

My eyes woke up at precisely 3:57 yesterday morning. No matter how I tried, I was unable to go back to sleep so I just got up and went downstairs to read. I felt slightly annoyed at being up so early. At exactly 5:10 a.m. Miss Nan,called. I didn't recognize the number, but I did recognize the area code and instinctively knew it it was her. She was a little hysterical. She had been kicked out of her house by her boyfriend. She needed to get here to me and Prince and didn't know how.

We figured it out. I called Cousin Sis to please come sit with me while I waited for her to get here.

Nan arrived after what seemed like a million hours safe and sound. We caught our breath for a minute and then got in my car to drive bck to her old home to get her bird, clothes and ballet pictures. The whole way there we talked and talked and all I could think of is "I know how she feels". Six years ago, I had to leave the same situation in the same manner.......with what I would put in a car.

We arrive at said EX-boyfriends and my heart is beating like a hammer. I stand guard in the doorway with my phone in hand ready to call 911 if anyone, and I mean anyone, pulls into that driveway or even walks up. I remember when my bestest girlfriend stood at my own door and watched guard for me while I threw what I could of my life into black trash bags while every minute or so saying "You really have to hurry up Reggie Girl". Her heart must have been beating like a hammer as well. In just 24 minutes, we have loaded what we can of Nan's life into my Chrysler.

We drive back. Both a little tired and relieved. Though she doesn't say, I can see the hurt, shock and confusion all over my kiddo. I can actually feel the hurt, shock and confusion all over my kiddo.

We make it back to her new home with me and Prince. We drink a bottle of "Mardi Gras Red" wine that I picked up in good ole Alabam right after Christmas. She can make a new and better life here with me and Prince.

The top picture has to be the best picture ever taken in my lifetime. Maybe what begins to cover wounds that we can't see is: falling asleep on your "Momma's" loveseat, with your dog at your feet covered up with a Sponge-Bob Square Pant's blankie.

Simply Sophie.........

Please meet Miss Sophie. Sofie is a full blooded Ragdoll cat. She is a year old with shocking blue eyes. Believe me this picture does not do her justice.

How did Sophie end up with Prince and Reggie Girl? Well, I'll tellya.
Cuz Cash e-mails one day and says that a cashier at our local Walmart is trying to find a home for her cat. Walmart cashier's son is highly allergic to Sophie. Cuz Cash really wants Sophie for her very own but her hubby says no way. I couldn't hit the send button quickly enough to say "I'll take her". I called Walmart cashier 3 times before she returned my call.

Of course I kind of forgot to mention all of this to Prince. Saturday, Walmart cashier calls me back and says "Yes please, come get the cat". I was so excited. I walk out of the ladie's room and Prince says "Excuse me Reg, not that I was eavesdropping......but did I just hear you negotiating a cat deal in the loo?". Reggie Girl, hesitates for a split second and then says "Well yes, that's what you heard".
Prince then says "You know Reg, sometimes it takes an extra helping of standard male insanity to be with you". I sheepishly just say "I know". Later Sunday night after we brought her home. Prince says "Yeah, she is really a lovely girl isn't she?"

This girls is how you get yourself a real nice cat from the local Walmart for free. Ellie is fasinated and devastated all at the same time.

(note to Cuz Cash: negotiate all your really good deals in the loo!!).

The Salad Bowl Head Dance

Nothing quite says "I'm havin me a reaaal fun time" like dancing on your Auntie's front porch with a salad bowl on your head and a good ole wooden spoon. Auntie is singing "Cinderella dressed in yella" and little Lulu suddenly breaks into dance!! Quickly my mind thinks "This is truly a Kodak moment" and I grab my camera to catch this magic.
Now, Auntie has other things to play with at her house. No matter what I give this kid to play with, she demands her green salad bowl and her wooden spoon. She knows exactly which cupboard it's in and which drawer the spoon is in. Knowing that she is most certainly not allowed in the other's, she goes only to them. She always wears it on her head and I always laughingly call her Salad Bowl Head anyway.
I love kids. There is nothing sweeter and more honest than a little kiddo (especially when they're not you own and you can love them up, spoil them and send them home). Nothing could possibly be more of a blessing than a sweet little child. Children can provide you with hours of mindless entertainment and a heart bursting full of pure love.
Everytime Lulu comes to my house and wears her salad bowl on her head, we laugh and I just know that God laughs with us.

Things that make me smile...........

I love to smile and be amused and these cats do that for me. Gypsy Sista gave me these cats. Gypsy Sista's husband kept trying to put these be-yoots in the Goodwill pile. They are now mine, mine, mine.
These cats are made of teak, have charming blue eyes and a smug look on their faces. One of Gypsy Sista's puppies had chewed on the big mama cat's ears. I have since corrected that with my trusty paintbrush and a little flat black paint.
Sometimes when I see my cats, I feel the urge to slant my eyes with my fingers (and yes, of course I know that is politically incorrect) and break into the song "We are Siamese if you Please" from the Disney movie The Lady and The Tramp. I've done that very thing a couple of times. Prince just shakes his head, laughs and says "Reg, sometimes I think you have gone completely mad!!".
My point here, and I do have one, is that very simple pleasures in life are all around us. We just have to look for them. And, if you don't have a Gypsy Sista.....you should getcha one. Then hang on to your seats girls cuz it's gonna be a bumpy, crazy, hilarious ride.

Conversation at my house........

Well, as most of you know Bill and I are buying a "new" lovenest. We have found one that we love and have made an offer that has been accepted. We love this home and the back garden is amazing. I fell in love it it on sight and all that I could see was my grandmother Christine out there everywhere.<

Anyways......what follows is the conversation between my prince and me last night:

Prince: "You know Reg, I hate that gold stove. And I must say again that that is without a doubt the ugliest most God-awful green tile in that bathroom that I have ever seen"

Reggie Girl: "I know honey, but we can replace all of that when we get in the house".

Prince: "Well, we will have to replace the appliances and do something with that tile. It gives me a headache to look at it".

Reggie Girl: Okay honey, you're right. Whatever you want because I love the yard and pool".

Prince: "I was thinking Reg, I would like to make the house all country-fied!"

Reggie Girl: "Okay, now I'm scared because I don't know what country-fied means to you".

Prince: "Oh you know, very country English cottage like".

Reggie Girl: says nothing because she is speechless........

Who knew my prince was so deep??? Every day he surprises me more.
