You just can't make this up.......
There are some things that are so funny and outrageous that you just can't make them up. I often times find everyday life hilarious. What follows is an actual conversation that I had in the checkout line at my local Walmart as I was innocently just trying to pay for my few items and get home:
Grice: "Little lady, let me give you my card"
Reggie Girl :"Sure". (Big mistake! This guy is a taxidermist. No, this is not a joke!!!).
Grice: "If you ever need any kind of animal stuffed, I'm really good so give me a call. I do ground squirrels, ducks, deer heads and atlers, pretty much anything".
Reggie Girl : "Okay, I don't really ever need anything like that but If I ever do, I'll be sure to keep you in mind". (Secretly I'm appalled, but Grice seems so proud of himself that I don't have the heart not to listen).
Grice: "I do a lot of fish too. Fish can be a taxidermist's bread and butter. Fish, you have to be real careful with the fins. You have to ease them out, spread them out wet onto balsa wood and just let them dry naturally".
Reggie Girl: "Well, I suppose if you learn the proper technique, you can mount just about anything".
Grice: "Yes mamn, I went to a school to learn to do this. That's why I'm buying this wire, molding plaster, borax like powder and the resin. I use the resin for making glass-like eyeballs. I order tongues out of a specialty catalog that I use for stuff like squirrels and possums".
Reggie Girl: "Hey that's all really interesting but I've got to be getting home. Thanks for the card. If I ever need an animal stuffed and mounted, you'll be the first person I call".
Okay now, I pretty much run to my car at this point. I have been dying to have a good laugh ever since that conversation started. Dude was so serious and into it that I held my laughter until I got outside so that I wouldn't hurt his feelings. Seriously, I must just have that kind of approachable face that some guy in the 10 Items Or Less checkout would just strike up this conversation. Either that or he is desperately lonely. So, if anyone ever need's anything like his services, give me a call. I'll hook you up!!

Steady on,
Reggie Girl

Now that's funny! I also like the idea of blogging conversations you hear in public. I'll need to keep my mental tape recorder on. Great blog.
