Everybody's Beautiful In Their Own Way

Wow.....it's already Friday and time for the big Shoot-Out that Patty@Crisfield Maryland and I started a few weeks ago. Several people have gotten on board and we hope that more join. Every week we a spotlighting one subject. This week is people.

You'd be surprised at how many random people that you don't know will stop for a quick snapshot if you ask. I love to look at peoples faces. I always look at the eyes first to see if I find kindness relected in them and a few fine lines of crinkles around them where they smile frequently. Faces can tell a story with no words. You can tell a lot about a person by their face like, whether they are basiclly happy or sad, have a hard job, have a lot on their minds, whether they are mischievious or meloncholy. You can tell if they laugh and smile frequently by how deep the smile lines are around their mouth. I love some of these snaps of children that show their unassuming innocense.

"Beautiful sights find my eyes,
with your face so true colors shine,
a face so true it is your own,
I smile because I'm not alone,
with your face so true colors shine"

Again, I saved my favorite for last. This is my friend, one of the Foster Failure's, and their horse Hank. Hank is of course, totally blind. Foster Failure is a beautiful person because he has such an amazing heart. Hank is beautiful because not only is he a handsome steed, he has an unsinkable spirit. Foster Failure still rides Hank on the trail. Hank runs when Foster Failure is on his back because he knows that he will be his eyes FOR him. Hank gets led to the corral and once in, knows his way around. I am in awe of Hank and I am in awe of the Foster Failure's love and devotion to Hank.

As you can see, as usual, I had a very hard time choosing which pictures to use. I have many, many more but tried to narrow the choice down to photographs that I felt showed the essense of the person with no words. Everybody's beautiful......in their own way................

On Being Right Or Being Happy

Auntie Mom gave Prince and I this beautiful plate that I so love. I have it displayed on an antique dry storage table that I have and it's something that I tried to make a lovely display around. Dorothy is right.......there's no place like home.....

This is an old picture of my family that was made in 1964 that I treasure. We were a nice looking family and we looked so happy. I just don't know what went wrong. My brother's and I barely have a few things that belonged to my Dad and Mom. I don't know what happened to everything they had but I do treasure the few little trinkets that I have that belonged to them. Gold and silver have I none but these few little things that I do have of their's mean everything to me. I have my Dad's Bible and an old watch of his that is worth all of the gold and silver in the world to me. I have a few pieces of costume jewelry that belonged to my Mom. In this picture are my twin Big Bros whom I both love and cherish. Little Bro wasn't born yet. He's close to none of us and no one and I don't understand. I never give up hope that one day he will love us all back..........

The older I get, the more I realize that the things that I used to think were so very important have changed. I've learned that little trivial things are just that.....trivial things that don't make a hill of beans in the difference of the grand scheme of things. I think that in the past, sometimes I would get distracted by those small little things that seemed of such great importance and lose sight of that was really important.

I've learned not to save things for a special occasion because every day is a special occasion..........

I've learned that happiness is free...........

I've learned that if it's worth seeing, listening or doing then I want to see, listen or do it now..........

I've learned that every day is special enough to drink out of those vintage jewel-toned crystal wine stems that I used to display instead of use..........

I've learned that wearing that new outfit that I was saving is worth throwing on and going for just a walk in the park to admire flower's in or watch children play.......

I've learned how wonderful it is to sit on the deck with my hunny under the stars and not worry about anything...........

I've learned that the pursuit of happiness is the journey of a lifetime and I'm on it............

I've learned that riding the church bus to pick up kiddos to take to Awanas probably gives ME more joy than it provides a service. When those kiddos hug my neck when they get off the bus, it makes me feel all warm inside.........

I've learned that if you smile and hum while walking down the street, people will very often smile right back at you........

I've learned that going barefoot during the spring and summer gives me great pleasure......

I've learned that letting someone go ahead of you in line at the supermarket often makes their day.......

I've learned that buying an older couple dessert on a Sunday afternoon while out having lunch will make them smile and that their smile is priceless.......

I've learned that every day is special enough to wear for that perfume that I used to save for special occasions..........

I've learned that it is far more important to be happy than it is to be right.......

I've learned that I still have so much left to learn and that I'll willing and desire to learn more and more about life with a far more open mind than I had 20 years ago.........

I learned today that 5 member's from the group Doctor's Without Boarders" have been kidnapped in Darfur. What an awesome cause they are, each with an amazing heart. That is one of the saddest pieces of news that I have heard in quite some time and makes the 765 trillion dollar deficit seem insignificant.....

Tomorrow, Patty from Crisfield, Maryland and I are profiling people on our now weekly "Shoot-Out". I think that the beautiful Loida from 2L3Bs, Michelle, and hopefully Barry are joining us. I wish that Nick would join us and I just know that Debby from The Pink Bird House is going to join us when she can get around better. She recently had knee surgery and tells us that she is getting much better every day but if you get a chance drop in and wish her a speedy recovery. I wish that lots and lots more people would join us for our "Shoot-Out's". It's just so interesting and inspiring to see other peoples snapshots and see their angle and take on this sometimes crazy ride called life. You know, there is that old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. I just wish that some of my picture's would be worth a thousand dollars instead, lol.

See you tomorrow........

Tuesdays Touring Newnan.....City Of Homes

It's Tuesday, one of my favorite days of the week because I get to spotlight my beautiful hometown Newnan, Georgia. Spring is in the air, folks are starting to get out and about. I ran into several people I know while in our downtown area and was thrilled to stop and chat on the sidewalks for a few minutes. I went to the park to take the pups for a little walk and they made a few new pup friends. I found the place where one of my favorite shops ever, Newnan Costume Shop, has moved and got to see their new store.

Take a little stroll with me and let me share what I saw this week in my beautiful town.........

Sidewalk chalk drawings where kiddo's had been playing

A truck in front of a body shop on Bullsboro Drive advertising free estimates for any hail damage folks may have gotten from the bad storm we had a couple of weeks ago that produced a tornado that did quite a bit of damage on one side of town.

A Job Networking Meeting sign. Lot's of folks looking for jobs these days......

A little kiddo sized ice cream parlor set for sale in front of What's In Store. I want to buy it so my pups can have a tea party. Wouldn't that be cute and I'm sure that they would cooperate right?.......

Some little kid goats playing "King of the hill" over close to the old Bibb plant...
(sorry I couldn't get the shot from the other side but they have nice rear ends don't they?........

A beautiful Morgan grazing in the new emerging green grass.........

Eric, General Manager at The Redneck Gourmet, says to come on in for a little breakfast or lunch. Prince and I love to eat here. It's gourmet indeed......

I spied the City of Newnan's Beautification Department having a little Spring cleanup in the park. Mister's Wesley, Rick and David were happy to smile for a quick little snapshot. These guys do an awesome job of keeping our fair city cleaned up and pleasing to the eye.........

Opal Ann's Attic over on Salbide Street. Great consignment shop.....

A beautiful Victorian home that I love on LaGrange Street......

A striking hand sculptered bronze statue in one of our lovely parks......

It's the time of year when the kiddo's are getting out to play after being cooped up all winter long and what a beautiful sight and sound that is..........

I love this home with the two lions guarding the walkway. You see beauty like this all around our town..........

Prince and I spied this great white streak in the sky Sunday afternoon. He said that this is condensation from fuel where they had broken the sound barrier. This great white streak ran in almost an arc in the beautiful blue skies that we've been having......

What a beautiful place I live in. I get out and about almost everyday and I see something new and interesting every time. You wouldn't believe how much beauty you can see if you just take a moment to find and appreciate it....soak it in and be mesmerized by the charm of your hometown. It's there. Everything has beauty.....even when unseen.

Newnan High School Swim Team Banquet

Last night I had the privilege and pleasure of catering the Newnan High School Swim Team's Banquet. I can't even begin to say how enjoyable the evening was. These kiddos are without a doubt the most polite and well mannered young men and women that I have been around in quite some time. You know, most kiddos these days are just a little different than when I grew up. Being around these kiddo's parent's, I understood why these kiddo's were the way they are. The parent's are amazing.

This is my posse, Firefighter friend, Miss Culinary Arts, my Prince, Reggie Girl and Cousin Sis. Wow!! You could never find better friends and you could certainly never find better help. I could have never pulled it off without any one of them. The only one not present was the other gigi. She hung out with me all day yesterday and I just couldn't have gotten everything done without her help either.

Our dessert table. Hey, Who doesn't like a little dessert? I made all of that pudding from scratch and boy was it yummo.

This is our buffet line. We only used the finest china because we wanted their banquet to be special for them. My good friend Cuz Cash's son (the one who called me his "illegitimate aunt", lol) is a swimmer on this swim team and I didn't want to disappoint either one of them. I already knew a couple of the other kiddos as well and they are all great young people.

This is the swim team's cake. I would take credit for this cake but I can't. One of the swimmers Mom's brought this fantastic cake. Isn't it gorgeous?

This is a quilt that was made for the swim team coach. All the swimmers made a square and then the quilt was put together. This quilt was simply stunning. I was admiring it with the swim team coach and she was touched and marveled that they would give her such a special memory to keep forever. I don't know whether it had sunk into her quite yet that these parent's thought that she was a pretty amazing lady and a terrific coach. Moment's like this are priceless.

It was such an honor to be a part of such a special evening. We all had a great time whether we were working, watching, listening and even cleaning up afterwards. I thank the Mom's of the swim team for letting my cater their event and I hope to do so again. It was a little work, but oh so worth it...........
