The Just Vent, Rant of Whatever.......
The picture above was taken during really strange weather last evening at the new lovenest. It was cloudy, windy, we were under a tornado watch and the sky was very ominous. Firefighter friend, Cousin Four and I looked up into the sky and saw the edge of this beautiful rainbow. I hope that you can see it too....it was a little dark. I say that the rainbow is a sign that Prince and I will be very happy in our new home.
I found this recipe in a book dated 1913. I thought it was a little different to say the least.
TOPEKA TABERNACLE BIBLE CAKE:
Blend 2 tbsps Amos, 4:5 with 2 cups Jeremiah, 6:20. Cream one cup Judges, 5:25/ Gradually beat in 4 cups First Kings, 4:22 and 6 medium Jeremiah, 17:11. Add 2 tbsps First Samuel, 24:23, 3 cups Numbers, 17:18, 3 cups First Samuel, 30:22, half cup of Judges, 4:19, good tsp of Second Chronicles, 9:9 and a pinch of Leviticus, 2:13.
Bake at 300 degrees until a skewer comes out clean. Frost if desired.
My daughter called me last night to tell me that her stepmum is going to be a Mardi Gras Queen this year. She knew that I would find it hysterical and of course she was right. Believe me, I'm anything but bitter. I'm glad that I've gotten to the point in life where pretty much everything amuses me. I'm sure that she and the ex are in their element. I hope the woman has enough self esteem left in her to pull it off. I can't wait to tell the jellybean girl. She will surely laugh as well because she knows how their pretend world spins and turns in it's own little vortex. By the way, just so's you know that I can stand my own, I'm the Fiesta Queen AND the Pie-Crust Queen this year. Thank you for your support kind friends!
I found the funniest blog about dating. Not that I'm looking for a date, but if I were in the dating pool again I'd check this one out: www.senselessjewels.blogspot.com.
Hope everyone has a splendid weekend.......

Your post made me smile! Thanks for commenting at my place.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine what it is like living under a threat of tornados. We have shuch a quiet life here in the UK!!!
PS please can I use your dating joke on mine?! Lol
ReplyDeleteGreat pic. I like weather photos that show great contrast ---like the dark clouds, yellow sky and rainbow in yours. Have you ever been to The Big Storm Picture blog? I especially like the photos there that show huge black clouds, but the sun is still shining. On this post: http://proartz.blogspot.com/2009/02/five-recent-favorites.html
ReplyDeletei have a link to that blog and some of my favorite photos.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, too. Sorry, but on "Card Trick" (http://proartz.blogspot.com/2009/01/card-trick.html) you won't learn how to do a card trick ---it is a story about my best practical joke, ever. It involved playing cards and since I was playing a trick on my coworkers, I called it "Card Trick." I'm not really that big into practical jokes, but once in a while the opportunity arises and i just can't help myself.
I wonder how that Bible cake would taste...
ReplyDeleteSuburbia....thanks for dropping by. Yeah, the weather was a little scary yesterday. And.....please do use anything you find here that you'd like to use. That's what we're all here for...to share :)
ReplyDeleteCarolina.....thanks for the info about the weather pics. I'll have to look into that. Isn't the one on my post a little scary? We just went outside, despite the tornado warning and looked up and there was the rainbow in the middle of the ominous looking clouds. I couldn't grab my Sony quicly enough.
And no teaching of card tricks? I'm a little devastated :).......
Kitten......I don't know. I'm so busy remodeling and moving right now that I don't have a chance to try it. If you do, please let me know. If you do, I'll post a picture of you and the Bible Cake on my blog just for fun. You're sweet :)........
what an amazing photo - i can definitely see that rainbow. im sure it is a wonderful sign that bodes well for your new home. i had a friend who used to make that bible cake - it tasted pretty good though i do believe she tinkered with the recipe. good luck with your move!!!
ReplyDeletei'd be happy to read your cards! i can do either email or phone readings. just let me know what works best for you. :)

ReplyDeleteGlimpse of my World......what an amazing home and front garden you have. (we're moving this weekend and I could possibly miss the post but I'll really try my best!!).......
Loved the photo and I can see the rainbow...love it. I live in West Texas where we have tornado scares a lot. Our town was hit hard back in 1970 but we were living 45 miles away at the time.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new home...and thanks so much for coming by to see me.
xo bj
just me again to say i signed up to follow your cute blog.....:O)

Topeka Tabernacle Bible Cake...it's a poem in itself. I can't stop saying it outloud with various cadences and stressing various syllables. I think I skimmed the rest of the blog...dating, website, mardi gras...I hope everything goes well. I'll be here cross-legged on the floor doing the mantra: Topeka Tabernacle Bible Cake Topeka Tabernacle Bible...
ReplyDeletebj.......thank you you're so kind! I love rainbow's. Like you, I am terrified of tornado's!! I mean it, I absolutely love your blog and hope that we become lifelong buddie's. Mean it :)
ReplyDeleteB&B.......you should TOTALLY do the poem. I actually dare you. No wait.....I "double dog" dare you. So there :)
Why is it that so often the most beautiful skies occur when the weather is most threatening? Beautiful photo but I've lived in the South long enough to be a bit terrified of it as well!
ReplyDeleteMardi Gras Queen huh? Oh my oh my- I would love to crash that party -
ReplyDeleteThank you for the link up - taking a dating hiatus at the moment but the stories always a-flowing!
The photo is amazing. I saw the rainbow first thing and thought my eyes were playing tricks on me!
ReplyDeleteI think I really need to catch-up on the ex and his missus. Sounds like an interesting chapter in your life.

ReplyDeleteOh God, Reggie, is there a tornado in your area? I hope the place you had chosen is a safe place to be.. I guess the recipe you found is kind of a joke? TOPEKA TABERNACLE BIBLE CAKE made me wonder what is that..?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing my friend. Have a nice and enjoyable weekend ahead.. God bless..
That sky certainly looks ominous, can just make out the edge of the rainbow. Very dark though - were there 4 horsemen riding by at the time! Only joking!
ReplyDeleteActually there is a lot of light right by my screen at the moment so I will pop back later to see if I can get a better look.
Hope the tornado passed you by. A x
Me again Reggie - better definition on picture now but VERY DARK. Hope storm has passed and you have lighter, brighter skies now. A x
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your post, you write well
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this picture. It's very hopeful. I also love storms though, so I would have been a happy camper either way. ;-)
