Get Your Expensive Cheap "Stuff" Here......

Prince and I are moving in about 2 weeks. Moving is in and of itself exhaustive and annoying. Moving "stuff" that you know that you aren't even going to be using is just plain silly, right?? (Please agree with me here!)? So we decide to have the dreaded MOVING SALE!!

I list the moving sale on the community bulletin board early in the week and then spend the rest of the week marching things to the garage for pricing. Some things, I had to put back because on second, third or fourth glance I decided that we couldn't part with an item or two. I invite family members and friends to add any items that they wish to the dreaded moving sale. Of course the more stuff that you can add to your sale, the more glamorous it seems.

Saturday morning arrives, we are all up bright and early for our big event. Before the sun even rises, we are pulling our sale items out of the garage and arranging them all on tables strewn all about the drive and sidewalks. We do pretty well. We have lots of buyers and we unload a good bit of our lives. Then around 2:00 p.m.....fatigue sets in to us all. We are all thinking how much we don't want to have to put everything we don't sell back into boxes, into the garage, or haul back home. Then we had an idea!! Let's mark everything down. Sort of a "Going out of Business" sale. We decide to advertise in a B~I~G way........

We make this massive sign announcing 'prices reduced !!', tape it onto Princes SUV and park it right at the entrance to the street. In this picture is me, Reggie Girl, Cousin Sunshine and that's my buddy Cousin Four on the ground there. Believe it or not, this actually worked. We had quite a few stoppers-by after posting the sign by the street. We all actually ended up selling quite a few of our memories this weekend. We were all tired and spent by day's end, but we actually enjoyed our day together. We sat around and talked, ate lunch and shared a few laughs as we always do when we're together. It was definitely worth the effort. Laughter is highly underrated. Laughter AND togetherness is priceless. Maybe we'll do it again soon....whattaya say ladies????

  2. How do you decide, that you wont need something in the next 20 years that you got rid of that you havent used in the past 5 years (Hang on....is my wife right in calling me a hoarder???)

Way to go think I may need to hire you as a moving sale co-ordinator!

  4. Now I like that photo! That is a feature shot!

Oh, moving day - how we all dread them. But the good thing about them is that you can sit amongst all your boxes, and make a make shift table out of one of them, order Chinese and open up a bottle of wine, and talk about all things wonderful (and how that garden will look in a few months).

  6. We have a small garage sale nearly every year or every other year. We have a tiny house, no basement and two kids so we have to keep our "stuff" under control. I LOVE having sales, there's something slightly freeing about them. Good luck on the move! Thanks for visiting my blog. I love "meeting" new people :)
