Let It Snow, Let It Snow!!!

Well, it rarely snows in the part of Georgia that Prince and I live in but yesterday? Surprise, surprise, surprise!! I thought I escaped this when we left the D.C. area. I'm not exactly a snow and cold weather type of girl, but I must say it was a lovely sight to behold.

Sadie, our new pup the Lab/Retriever mix lovin it!! She bounced, pounced, trounced and played like a kiddo until we almost had to make her come indoors.

Ellie, our 3 pound Chi drawing the line as to how far into the yard she was willing to go......which obviously wasn't very far at all!

Sadie again, playing on the deck. She kept slip-sliding away. She's a clumsy little darlin anyway and makes us laugh, laugh, laugh. Constant source of raw entertainment for Prince and I.

Roxie, our new Border Collie that we rescued last week. Notice the huge flakes of snow on her back. Whe wanted to be toweled off and go straight back indoors.

Our front yard. I love that old dairy milk container with pansy's planted in it that graces the old covered well.

A tree in our front yard covered in the white fluff. The tree was just getting her Spring buds. She'll still be okay. It wasn't that terribly cold and I don't think that it will harm her or her Spring beauty.

A back view of our deck and house covered in the fluff. It looked quite pretty.

An old urn that sits outside our front door by the walk way. It looks like it is trimmed with fur doesn't it? Faux fur of course :)

My umbrella tree frosted with snow.

One of my beautiful Forsythia trees covered in snow. I love how the beautiful yellow flowers still peek out through the snow. Forsythia reminds me of my Grandmother who called them Yellow Bell's. I am so happy that I have three nice Yellow Bell's in our yard. I call them all Nene.....

Not much of the snow stuck very well. It drizzled rain and the ground was pretty warm. There's a little left this morning and it still looks quite pretty. The kiddos in the area of course loved it. Cousin Four got to slide down a couple of hills on a float, which of course thrilled him. I wish that I had gotten to see that and I hope that Cousin Sis took a couple of snaps for us to see later. Prince and I do think it looks a little like a nice postcard, but of course we are ready for Spring. We need to get our organic herbs, peppers and veggies into the ground for our organic garden. We've got a lot of work to do around here. But, all in all, I'd say it was a nice respite and we cuddled up in front of the fire with a little hot toddy....or two.

  2. These are some beautiful winter photos! My little rescued mutt, is not a snow lover at all! He has issues with getting his paws cold and wet...I have thought of getting him a pair of boots! I need to keep telling myself, He's a dog!
    Make it a good day!

  7. Ah, I love the pictures!! I forgot to bring my camera out with Curly in the snow, he was too funny. He hates to get his feet wet so he was jumping and running all around. We got about 4 inches, I too thought I escaped it when I left NY...it's followed us. It's a novelty I guess but another school day we have to make up..but you know what I'm in my robe sippin my tea and all is well in the world.

  9. I love the pic of the yellow bells in snow. I know the dogs are a lot of entertainment - Harriet barked at the snowfall here yesterday!

  11. I had a half a second flicker of homesickness - it was quickly gone and I was glad to be sitting at the computer in my skivvies trying to keep cool in tropical Brasil - don't try to visualize this.

  12. A pleasant way to start my day... looking at the snow through your lens, and the world through your eyes.

I also like the "raw entertainment" comment about your dog. (I have a female German Shepherd who provides the same service in our home: Heide.

    Great closing quote too.

  13. I'm in connecticut with 12 inches of snow I will gladly send you more for all the pups to play in. My chihuahua's like it for about 1 minute than they are done.

  14. A snow-draped landscape can be an enchanting scene. If you have to drive in rush-hour to get to work, it's a pain in the neck. Snowy days make me want to reach for the camera.

I really enjoyed the pictures from around your lovely home.

  15. Love your dogs and the snow pictures. We got a lot of snow here in NC. I am hibernating in today and loving it. Our dog is a chihuahua and she will hate going out in this snow. I have always called forsythia, yellow bells too. They remind me of my grandmothers, who both had them in their yards. Love & blessings from NC!

  16. I'm really shocked at how many states further South of us got so much snow - and all we had was a light dusting on Sunday morning. Fine with me. I'm sick of it already this year. :-)

  17. Thank you so much for your comment! Nothing like 'puppy love'!!! :)

  18. We've got 9 inches and it's still snowing. Rigby loves it, but she doesn't have to shovel!

  19. Thanks for visiting Winnie. As you know, we love dogs (we have 5), so we will come visit you often. So happy to see someone loves the snow. We are so sick of it in Ohio. It does offer some beautiful pictures, though. If you want to laugh, you will have to visit my other blog...chamomile-tea.blogspot.com.

  20. Beautiful snow. How many dogs do you have? I went to the Detroit Kennel Club show this week-end. Came home feeling under-dogged.

  21. Great pics! I love when dogs get the zooms in the snow. Our German Shepherd loves the snow, she would live outside if we let her, our Rottie on the other hand hates the wind/cold/rain/anything other than sun. We now have an English Mastiff in the mix and he really hasn't seen much snow because it has been really mild this year. He loved the little bit we got. Your lab/ret looks like she had a blast! keep up your great work with the humane society, we love our local one, used to foster puppies before we had kids. Great work they do there.

  24. Ah the dogs look as though they are enjoying the snow. :) Love the photos.

  25. Great snow pictures, even if the snow was a bit out of the ordinary for your area. I especially loved the doggie pictures tho. What a sweet border collie you have now! Our Cody is part border collie and he acts it at times, wanting to herd everything together that moves. Oddly, the only thing he won't go near are the flocks of sheep that some times graze in the fields near our house! Border collies can be a hand full, but as long as they have some "work" to do, they are happy and are great dogs!

  26. We had a couple of falls like that. It's lovely while it's white and crisp, but not so when it's brown and slushy. My two elkhounds love the snow, they'd be out in it all day given half a chance.

  27. We had snow, too, a few weeks ago. It was very exciting, because we hadn't had any decent snow for years. The youngsters loved it! I was a bit scared of falling over.

Love your snow and dog photos. Dogs often love snow, don't they? Our cats aren't keen!

  33. It snowed all day here in the mountains, too. Big, fat, wet flakes. We always feel sleepy when it snows. Like bears, I guess.

  34. All your pups needed were some Uggs, scarves, and mittens, and they could have played out there for hours. It's so beautiful, the snow, isn't it? Lovely to look at but that's about it. Can't believe you're having it in GEORGIA!

  35. Well, your Sadie and my P.J. are retriever mixes, must be the retriever in them that love the snow! I can't even stand to watch him burrow his head into the snow, he does it and I can't breathe!

  36. I have a ton of snow I'll ship you if the novelty hasn't worn off for you yet - LOL. Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's always great to meet a new friend.
