"Friday Shoot-Outs" Home & Garden Edition

"The difficulties in my path shall not deter my ambition" ~ A sign I saw in St. Lucia

Boy, this week I feel like we should all have our own special episode on HGTV. The amazing gigi @ afterthoughts picked this weeks subject and what a fantastic choice she made. I love gardens of all kinds and gardening is one of my passions. In Newnan, Georgia we have some amazing gardener's is our midst. Nothing gets you closer to God than digging in the earth and then watching the splendor and fruits of your loving labor unfold before your very eyes. I hope you enjoy our gardens theme as much as I enjoyed taking these snaps.

You've got your veggie gardens. A couple of these are snaps from my very own organic garden.....a couple of them aren't lol...........

You've got your rock gardens. I especially love the little rock garden with the plaque dedicated to "The Victims and Heroes of 9/11 and The Everyday Heroes Among Us". I'm proud to say that I took that at an elementary school near me where I know most of those big hearted kiddos. I also really like the little garden made of handmade mosaic stepping stones........

Then you've got your flower gardens. I so love flowers. Some of these shots are from my very own flower gardens. Then another couple come from one of my best girlfriend's yard. There are 2 from another friend's who is a Master Gardener. I am mesmerized by flower gardens and could spend hours working in mine and hours looking at others. Thenk you gigi for choosing this week's subject..........it's one dear to my heart...........

Thanks so much for visiting with me today!! My gal Patty chose Science Girl's name out of the hat to choose next week's subject......I can't wait for that one, but please girl don't choose chromosomes or isotopes or cells, lol.

Hope everyone has a joyful EXTREME weekend.

Steady On

  1. I'm so overwhelmed with so many shooters this Friday I can't remember which one...but somebody did an underwater garden!! Yes, Science girl could come up with a difficult theme...Newton's Laws, nebulae...Bagman suggests reproduction!...can't wait to see what Science Girl comes up with.

I really wish we had a vegetable garden again. We did at our old house, but here we just don't have the right place for it.

  8. Girl, I love your collection of garden photos. I especially like the last photo in the rock garden. Like the turtles, too.

My favorite is the garden with the painted canvas. Those flowers and apples are just great!

I also love those little wildflowers by the woodpile.

And you know I love the way you titled the photo of the veggie garden.

Of course, the first photo is just beautiful.
I love them all Reggie Girl. The house yards are nice, too!

We have some shooters this week, eh? Perhaps we should send Oprah a message.

Looks like we truly have a gang, now!

  13. I am with Yaya, I love the orange (mfc), and I also miss having a vegetable garden (exersize too), but what fun I had writing my story and trucking around New Jersey trying to find a garden; then realizing I live in a garden, lol

Oh and please tell me I will not be hauling my booty over a fence to break into a science lab, lol

  16. Great theme, nice shots, and good commentary. My favorite? The bright flowers in front of the cord of wood: nice juxtaposition of colors and plant function. (Soon, soon, I'll shoot with the Friday-Shoot-Out Gang.) For now, for now, I can only admire their work... from afar.)

  36. Great bunch of gardens.

Really need to do a vegetable garden again. Envy you yours. And isotopes (http://www.scientificamerican.com/search/index.cfm?q=isotopes&submit.x=12&submit.y=13) or cells - stem cells?(http://www.scientificamerican.com/search/index.cfm?q=cells&submit.x=34&submit.y=13) would be great topics.
