I wanted to share a few excerpts from an article I read where children were explaining what love meant to them. Some of their explanations are very sweet, funny and some are pretty powerful. What is love to you??
"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
Billy - age 4
"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."
Karl - age 5
"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
Terri - age 4
"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)
"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"
Nikka - age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)
"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."
Noelle - age 7
"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.
He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore."
Cindy - age 8
"My mommy loves me more than anybody
You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night."
Clare - age 6
"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."
Elaine-age 5
"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford."
Chris - age 7
"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."
Mary Ann - age 4
"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you." (what an image)
Karen - age 7
"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."
Jessica - age 8
"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones."
Lauren - age 4

ReplyDeleteSunshine and smiles!
Some of these made me cry. What a wonderful list to put up. We could really learn a lot from those kiddos.
ReplyDeleteWow, some... no ALL of those blew me away. I'd forgotten how insightful little kids can be. If only we could all hold on to that as we grow older!!
ReplyDeleteThat made me smile! As they say, "Out of the mouths of babes!"
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. Thank you sooo much for your encouragement. You will never know how much it means!

Have a beautiful day.
I've seen this list before, but it's always helpful to read it again. So sweet!
ReplyDeleteChildren know so much. I loved the first one...
ReplyDeleteNow you have done it, you have topped all previous posts with this one! "Out of the mouths of babes" really rings true here. What thoughts, what lessons we can learn from them! My favorite was what was left in a room on Xmas day after you stop opening presents and listen - LOVE! Terrific. Thanks for a wonderful inspiring post, Reggie Girl!! hugs, Debby
ReplyDeleteThe kids' insights are really creative and mind-engaging!! They are our masters indeed!! Love the pic posted here. It has timeless sweetness ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet little comments and observations. My favorite is the sweet older sister that gives her old clothes to her sister and then buys new ones...can't buy love like that!
ReplyDeleteWow, I like this...thanks for these kinds of post!
ReplyDeleteThey are priceless! I'm going to have to ask my four year old what she thinks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on the 'trial by mothers' I agree, they should try to teach for a month. Actually, one of them said she couldn't be a teacher, what a hypocrite!
This is just TOO sweet. I love the idea of my name being safe in someone's mouth, even when that mouth is full of the best piece of chicken.
ReplyDeleteHi Regg, I love this! How sweet and insightful these children are. Well gotta go get some chicken and smell my Hubby!
ReplyDeleteHugs from Idaho, June

Love is having a friend like you.
ReplyDeleteI wish we all could see life as these kids do. So fresh and innocent.
ReplyDeleteGood post, Reg. Love is all ya need!
ReplyDeleteFun post. I think it's important, once you find out what means love to someone you love, to love them back in the way that means love to them.
ReplyDeleteI liked your explanation of steady on! I like the battle cry that shows up in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe: "Further up, and further in!"
Hi Reg, We're back from Texas. Had a nice time with son and family --but the weather was HORRIBLE. We're glad to be home!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your post... There's nothing better than hearing the words of KIDS... They are so honest---and so truthful!!!! We can ALL learn something from them, can't we????
Hugs,
Betsy
If it was just that simple.
ReplyDeleteAren't they lovely?
ReplyDeleteAnd love is a blog reaching right across the world to someone's heart.
That's for that cute post - really enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteThis post was so sweet. So sweet. The wisdom of children often goes unnoticed. That is too bad. Kids are very smart!
