Staying Young - Maybe It Will Work?

Worth the read and soooo self explanatory.......

I've kept this for a really long time under the title "Staying Young".

I hope that you will enjoy this as much as I do.

1. Try everything twice. On Madams tombstone (of Whelan's and Madam) she said she wanted this epitaph: Tried everything twice...loved it both times!

2. Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down. (keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches;)

3. Keep learning:
Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening,
whatever. Never let the brain get idle.
"An idle mind is the devil's workshop."
And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6. The tears happen:
Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love:
Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.
Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips.
Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second time.

  1. I am borrowing this on my TMI post if you do not mind, and will send credit where I found it! You are right, people ask me all the time why I am always going in so many directions with my work, hobbies, and the love of my life...well to confuse the heck out of the devil!

  2. 1. Tried everything twice, three times, four times, then a hundred, still trying it...whoo hoo. Well, except for those things I got addicted too. Maybe that has to do with cherishing health. Oh, yes, and I love you!

  13. Hey RG, I had recieved this from a friend a few weeks back and fell in love with it then, even printed it out and kept it in my bedroom to be read time and again, to remind myself to do those things. It is such a great post! It is all so true, we have to live now, for the moment, because time is getting away from us faster then we realize. My favorite one is keeping company with the friends that make us smile and letting loose of the ones who don't. I had to learn this the hard way by staying with someone much too long who made me unhappy in the smallest most subtle of ways. It was sad to lose a friend, but I realize now how much happier I am without her! who could have known!!! Take care and have a good April 1st. ciao, Debby

  21. Hey there Reggie Girl, thanks for posting this wonderful list for all of us to read and apply in our lives! So many I agree with wholeheartedly...definitely keep only the cheerful friends (learned this one long time ago), enjoy the simple things, and my home has been my refuge for a long time now.

I can't tell you how many times, after a really busy, back-breaking labor intensive day, when I fall into bed, how thankful I am to have said bed with the lovely mattresses, something too many people in this world don't get to experience. A simple thing, but one to be very thankful for!

As for the lemonade award, I totally understand that your blog here is dedicated to the No-Kill shelter and all the poor dogs and cats who deserve a second chance at a loving life. What a noble and wonderful cause. For that very reason, you also deserve that award and many others, whatever bloggy awards may be out there. As I am sure there are many other blog awards. ;-)

Hope you are having a wonderful week!

  25. Reggie, would you please look at the list of known members of Shoot-outs on my blog and let me know, if you have time, any that I might be missing? You probably know better than anyone else, because you get more comments from them. I promise not to bug you with this. If you would just look at it occassionally and let me know, I think it will be helpful to any new Shooter. Thanks, Gordon

  26. Fine words to live by. i got a couple grouches in my life and they get mad when I don't call 'em! Probably cause they needed to fill up on my positive energy... spirit vampires I call 'em!!

Spend a day with 'em and you're in bed in the dark for 24 hrs afterwards depressed/ and or exhausted. But then you get over it!

I'm listening.....and while you're at it PLEASE make me laugh!!
